Hmm. Let's see if I can't do this ride as well. Two weekends in a row might be pushing things.

That sounds like a beatiful but BRUTAL ride. Pretty long (for me at least) and with more than 1000 feet of climbing per 10 miles! What is the expected rolling pace? I don't think I could even average 14 mph on that ride.

It may be moot anyway, because I can't ride Saturday. I probably could do Sunday, though.

BTW, here is someone's motionbased version of the route, with a more detailed Google map version of the route and an elevation profile: https://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/1668797.

Big version of elevation profile

Looks like a popular route you got going here marco. I'm a maybe, its all based on some out of town guests who are coming in saturday. I'd love to do this ride, since the group will be big enough that I can hide in the line and not get killed by the wind heading into Pescadero :-P. I also need to try my compact double on Tunitas, can I be listed as <maybe> (super hopeful?)

Hmm. I'm considering starting at Canada/92 as well. If I'm going to kill myself, I may as well go for the gusto, right?

Besides, from the aerial view, Canada looks like a pretty sedate, flat road.

Is there any parking near there? The satellite view shows a dirt lot of some sort, but that could be old imagery...

There is plenty of on-street parking along the sides of Canada/92

.

In Bay Area terms Caņada is flat. It gently rolls. Plus you will get some good easy spinning to warm up before OLH

Im considering doing part of this ride. I will ride from Campbell with you. But Im gonna cut off and climb Alpine then take Skyline to Summit and decend back into Los Gatos on Old Santa Cruz Hwy. What time are you taking off? And from where?

I don't suppose anyone in the south bay would want to add on the steep stuff on the way over. Moody, Golden Oak, Los Trancos, Ramona, Vista Verde then down Old Spanish Trail and Joaquin to Alpine.

Canada and 92 for me, too. I need to save my legs if I'm gonna do OLH and Tunitas in the same day. This ride DEFINITELY calls for the compact crank and the 12-27 cassette.

BTW, the Weather Channel is currently calling for Partly Cloudy on Saturday.

It's basically this minus Westridge. Left at El Monte and up past the college to Moody. Joaquin is a steep downhill to Alpine.

I will assist any one that needs it going up Old La Honda, I will be saving for my climb up Alpine and over Castle Rock. Most people can climb better then they think if they just get a better rythem, and quiet the body.

Heavens no. That has injury written all over it. Alpine is one of the best climbs in this valley in my opinion, Ill save it for that. Longer and higher then Tunitas and much better road conditions. I always hurt my back and hips on that real steep stuff, not to mention my knees.

Are you debuting the new Tarmac yet or is it still under Area 51 status?

Well they are both new. Im riding the Expert, which is the first one I bought. Mainly because it has a standard double instead of compact, and it is heavier. My legs have adjusted to the standard crank gearing and dont seem to like the compact anymore. I have been riding both though, just feel more comfortable on the expert right now.
