My comment at starting in Fairfax was directed at Curtis who wanted to shorten the mileage. I thought that would give them the prettiest parts of the ride.

So if I do the route from Caltrain, but skip Mt. Tam, what would the mileage be?

A little less milage much less climbing. Check out the Bikely I did and just eliminate tam and double back fairfax to bridge.

I don't know Tam. Is that the huge mound at the end of the elevation profile, right before the last, mysterious 20-miles-of-perfect-flatness section?

You could call it a mound but, I've always called a bit of a lump.

I'll be there for sure. I might ride back to San Mateo too. Make it a good 120 mile day

On a shorter ride it may not be so bad, but I'm thinking that embarking on fifteen-ish miles of serious/seriousish climbing sixty miles in might be a bit more painful than usual.

I might be interested in a long-yet-sans-mountain run.

We're riding King's Ridge on Saturday, so Sunday will be chore day and maybe a short local ride. It's hard to get in two big rides on the weekend.

The weather is going to be awesome though!

I can't decide if I wanna start at Fairfax or at Caltrain. I don't know my way around there, so the route from Pt. Reyes to Fairfax better be straight forward. Otherwise, I may need to hail a taxi!

It is straightforward:

Take Point Reyes-Petaluma Rd. out of Point Reyes Station.
Left at Platform Bridge (You'll still be on Point Reyes-Petaluma).
Right at Nicasio Valley.
Left on Sir Francis Drake.
Stay on Sir Francis til you hit downtown Fairfax.

If you manage to hail a taxi out there, though, you might be the first ever to do so. Don't think I've ever seen one. There is infrequent bus service connecting Fairfax to Point Reyes Station however.

Remember that Taxi on Wilson hill? Maybe he'll be cruising the parameters!

Are you coming too?

Ron after Pt Reyes we're coming back to Fairfax to do the climb up Tam so you'll be with us anyway. We go through S.P. Taylor park and it's flat and cool! If it's super hot Sunday I might even bail before tam but I doubt it. Nice breeze coming up off of Stinson. Hot air over the Central Valley will suck in cool ocean air...

I'd like to, but Sundays are work days for me. I'm getting my fill of Tam tomorrow though -- Headlands to Pantoll/West Peak to Bolinas Ridge to Olema via fire roads and Highway One, then back to SF.

OK. Tricia and I will at least start this ride. We'll take BART and search for this place you call "The Ferry Building"
We will risk our sanity and lives riding bikes in the big city so we can get to to the narrow roads with fast cars in Marin. We will however not be going the full 120, as we are (well, I am) old and tired.
But basically I just don't want to miss what seems like it will be a wonderful photo op.

I'd be surprised if you miss it.

I don't think I'll be up for a 90/100/120 tomorrow (I'm suddenly aware of my legs after 22 miles of fixed riding today), but if there are some people doing a shorter (milder?) loop, I might be in.

I'd be up for shorter, but I don't know the area too well.

Never been out for a ride with ya'll but I might show up and ride some of it with you guys. Still a beginner so I'm not close to strong enough for 120 but I'll go as far as I can.

Okay, I'm tentatively planning to attend, and worry about figuring out the turnaround point when necessary. I won't have a chance for a ride next weekend, so I need to fill this one.
