Mt Tam from SF this Sunday?

Hi everyone.

I have had this terrible cold (throat/lung butter/sinus deal) for the last week, didn't get any good riding in. :(

I rode San Mateo to SF (Chrisy Fields) last Sunday, did my commuting stuff, rode the tandem to drop off/pick up Ruth at Caltrain this Sunday, but that was it. :crash:

Anyway, we are thinking about doing Mt. Tam this Sunday on our tandem, something like last years ride (up to Alpine dam, then the longer climb, then the 7 sisters, then down Pan Toll, etc.), starting on the Embarcadero (Ferry Bldg) in SF at around 9:45 (caltrain arrives at 9:36am).

Any takers?

List to date:
- Marco & Ruth (tandem)
- Ron
- DG Going Uphill
- Alan
- PETE
- David & Lisa (tandem)
....

Here is the apx. route, unless someone wants to do different:
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path...Mt-Tam-to-BART

If I decide to ride home to San Mateo, I will cut through the Precidio/Sea Cliff area to Great Highway, then Skyline (some side roads to avoid the tricky part near the 1/280 split), then down Crystal Springs to San Mateo. My house is pretty close to Hillsdale Caltrain.

Just the sort of ride I've been looking for. I'd be in. It would be my first with the bunch, so don't know about pace, but I'm fine to be dropped, if necessary.

cool!

Yeah Ruth needs to get some riding in before the Giro the following week. It will be her first century on her single bike.

I had that same cold a couple of weeks ago - it is nasty. Kept me off the bike for more than a week also - I figured it was better to rest for a while than to risk bronchitis or a sinus infection that won't go away.

I'll have to pass on Sunday's ride - I'll be recovering from a Mines Road/back of Mt. Hamilton/Sierra Rd/Calaveras sufferfest on Saturday.

Hey Marco,
If this is going to be Ruth's first century on a solo bike, shouldn't you be doing this ride solo with her?

Just sayin' ...

Ohhh Dudes! Damn! Believe it or not I was invited to ride in the pride parade with other ALC riders. I'm actually doing a Tam ride Saturday (Reunion ride with ALC) ... but don't worry I'm not shifting my alliance here. You guys are more important, I'll be riding with you all for the Giro...REPRESENTIN! : )
Just because I got white shoes now, doesn't mean I'm going " That way" ; )
Although some of those guys in the red dresses last week were lookin pretty cute after a week away from the little bride...If ya know what I mean!

We are riding Solo on Friday San Jose -> San Mateo (my commute home). We feel like riding the tandem this Sunday :)

Normally I'd be all over this but I have a 4:00 concert down in Santa Cruz next Sunday. My real life schedule and my BF schedule haven't been lining up lately. But I'll be spending all week riding around Morgan Hill at least.

Draft the tandem on the flats. Re-groups will happen at several locations.

Since Pete is shifting his alliances, we're out, that is, unless he shifts his back. :roflmao2::cry:

That's no reason not to come. Pete will be around on plenty of other rides :thumb:

PS to those coming:

We are thinking about riding back to San Mateo at the end, depending on the time. So if you'd like to join us for that, you are welcome.

SesameCrunch 06-17-08 04:34 PM

I'm in, Marco. Probably see you on Caltrain!

I'll wait and see about riding back to San Mateo, depends on whether I can feel my legs after Mt. Tam :o.

Bostic 06-17-08 04:38 PM

I am hoping to make it depending on how the packing goes. I'd meet up at the GGB per usual.

uspspro 06-17-08 04:39 PM

Thank goodness, I was starting to think you guys were avoiding me or something ;)

Cool Alan and Ramon, see you there!

PS- If any of you guys are taking the train, and don't see me. That means, they didn't let the tandem on. In which case we'd drive and still be there on schedule since I live very close to the train station.

Nah, nothing so sinister. Just had to clear it with the family calendar...

Cool. I'll also decide on whether or not to go all the way to San Mateo or not depending on how my legs feel by then.

We'll see how this weekend shapes up. I don't want to make any commitments before we know that rafting won't be a chance.

taxi777 06-17-08 07:02 PM

I might do the parade thing, hang for a bit, and head up the the front side of Tam and may be head on into you guys.

Bostic 06-18-08 11:09 AM

I will be unable to attend :( Turns out the new apt will allow an early move in so I'll be driving up to Reno Sunday morning with my mothers two cats that yell the place down when they have to travel only 10 blocks to the vet in their carriers. It's going to be a fun 4 hours.

Sorry you won't be able to join us :(.

About the cats - I just want to make sure I understand. You're a drummer in a hard rock band, and you're concerned about a couple of cats meowing in the car? :D:D: I mean, do you even have any ear drums left? :D

DG Going Uphill 06-18-08 11:24 AM

Taxi, You know the parade is not this weekend, but next, right? The GPT parade is on 6/29. Or am I wrong, and we are not talking about this weekend for the ride (6/22)?
