Who rode today?

This might be a fun thread, and might help those of us new to riding or the area clue in on rides.

I put in 15 miles this morning on the Am River trail. Only had an hour or so to get out and ride. I've ridden 4 days of the last 5 and plan to have rest days over the weekend (and I need to ferry the kids around for a couple of birthday parties).

Was planning to drive down to Canada road, but ended up riding around the neighborhood: Guadalupe Canyon, Radio Road, down to Geneva and then back up to San Bruno mountain park. Saw someone on a mountain bike going up just when I was getting to the bottom of Radio Road.

Only 11 miles, but 1750 ft. of climbing, which for me was a hell of a lot. The heat/sun was a nice change for DC.

San Bruno Mountain over lunchtime from work. Pretty toasty! Not too bad, there was a nice gentle breeze up radio road that stopped my head from overheating.

Nice! Double post on the same route -- when did you ride?

I was up radio road sometime between 12 and 12:30, think I saw a MTB dude aswell on the way down. I did pass a guy in a blue (?) jersey who was descending when I was climbing near the top, was it you? I was riding a black/yellow Roubaix in a red jersey, my friend was on a TCR.

Was thinking about it when I got home at 4 pm, but it was way too hot still. It was 104 according to my car thermometer. Just went to 7-11 just now (9 pm), and it's still 88 degrees. Damn, it's hot.

Not me! I hiked with the dog along the Las Trampas ridgeline for a couple of hours this morning, before it got too hot. I'm kind of concerned about our planned ride tomorrow (Mines/San Antonio Valley Rd to Mt. Hamilton, Sierra Rd, Calaveras - should be fun on a nice hot day!).

Was going to run today but I'll probably have to go to 24hr for treadmill run.
Ended up riding along the Sawyer Camp Trail with my daughters classmate (10y.o.) and his dad on MTBs.
Slow going but nice considering how hot it was.

Dang, Jon, that's crazy. Hope it cools off a lot over night. That's why I'm doing a ride in the peninsula.

Yeah, I know. It's our last really tough climbing ride ahead of the Death Ride. The good news is that we'll have several SAG stops along the way - one of the benefits of TnT.

Mid-afternoon, around 4-ish.

Yeah, the breeze was good. Better than 55 F with 30 mph winds which I've encountered a few times. Makes that bumpy descent more interesting, and frankly not that fun.

OK - different times then. Yeah that descent's interesting! I find the worse bits are at the top just past the radio towers and then the last bend just before you come to the eucalyptus grove. There's a smooth line there somewhere, but get it wrong at 30mph+ and it's a good tooth rattler

Between 9:45 and 11:30, I rode Brown's Valley/Timm Rd/Peaceful Glen/Cantelow/Pleasant's Valley/Putah Creek/Old Winters Rd./Hartley Rd/VacaValley Parkway to home. 32 miles, hot wind, extremely light traffic.

Hope to get out really early tomorrow for an easy spin -- looking forward to cooler temps Sunday for Mt. D Hill Climb.

16 miles to work this morning. 40 miles in the afternoon in the blazing Sac/Davis heat. Wasn't bad actually.... you just gotta keep moving.

Sounds like my day only 15 miles in the 3pm sun instead of 40. Twas a little too hot even by my standards.
Sapped the energy out of me. I then played in the pool for hours with my kids. Kinda beat now. Goodnight!

I rode in the morning before work. It was warming up even then. Off today (Saturday); looking for cooler weather on tommorrow's RBR/Integrate Fitness ride with my 6-year-old on the trail-a-bike.

Jonathan,

I think I must have seen you out there today. I was doing repeats on Hamilton. Saw a bunch of TnT folk.

I finally packed it in when the heat got to me shortly after noon. My last ascent from the CDF station 6.6 miles from the summit (west side, not north) was just a grind-it-out drag. My body was calling it quits. Only got 8500 feet in today, all before noon

It was sprinkling when I left the summit, which was odd, since there were no clouds overhead. Vicious lightening and storm clouds over the coastal range, so I wanted to get off of the mountain before they made it my way. When I got to the park, the observatory was socked in by storm clouds, but the dome was lit up by sun. Looks like they never did get any rain, and the temps dropped a lot -- damn, shoulda stayed and kept riding!

Rode from Davis to do Cantelow. Saw Red Rider and cgallagh on their tandem! Left by 7:15, and it was already warm. Stopped at Steady Eddies for a lemon square and iced tea. Yum. Got back by noon, and by then it was hot and the winds had picked up.

Rode Mt. Diablo via Southgate. I started a bit later than planned at 8am and was at the top at 9:30am. Some sections in full sun were starting to be hot, the shaded one were very welcomed. Going down from the summit was very nice with a little bit of a cool breeze. I didn't envy the guys who were just starting from the school went I was leaving.
