Paseo de la Langster: Pleasant Folly

FollyFoolishness/Imbecility
Not too many fish on the hook for my Tiburon loop call. Of course you can always
hook a shark! Ramon the Tiger shark went right for the chum and I was reduced
to the pilot fish and feeding on scraps…

I knew I was in for an a** Kickin! Ramon has a tendancy to run me right at my
limit. I always feel one Clift bar short of being in the front of his tempo. Reminds
me
of when I played in a fusion band. Trying to get the melody all in and chasing the drummer.
FOCUS is the key. Concentration on efficient mechanics. I always
experience a noticeable improvement in my riding with some of the
hammerheads (as in shark) of the group.

I hadn’t ridden the Langster or any one speed over 30 miles.
I really enjoyed myself and the weather was great.
One of the funniest things concerning one-speed technique…
(bear with me this may be old hat to some, but
I’m in a childlike space of cosmic discovery) is topping out on the gears
and segueing into Gerbil mode! I’ve
found that 23/24 mph is about all I can do before
I start the H.E.N.R.Y (High-Energy-Nuclear-Riding-Yikes!) Named
after our own world renowned speed peddler, Henry, (Blast).
Coming out of Tiburon Ramon chased me down and passed me
hitting a (and I counted) 255 rpm cadence! His feet were a blur
and he was bouncing like a bobble head over cobblestones!
I started laughing my a** off to tears…then hit a pot hole and
flatted which made me even laugh more! We started doing that
all the way back…Ha ha ha…It’s fun!! I can’t wait till we ride like
that by some team in training and yell BONK! I’m cracking myself
up writing this…You had to be there. We’ll perform for you sometime!

On the way around the loop I had a terrible incident. Going around
a curve I hit one of the reflectors which knocked my cool new camera
out of it’s Gorilla holder and the camera went into my spokes and
under the wheel. I though my frame broke at first. It freaked us both out.
We stopped and the camera was trashed. We searched and found the
battery, then the mem card. The back had been ripped off the lens was bent.
It was all gouged. Totally unfunctional. It looked like a pack of
Pit Bulls had had their way with it.
(Flash forward) I was afraid to tell Cathy so just for the heck of it
I went up to my shop. I got my pliers and mallet, stuck it in a vice
and started fabricating… Holy Sh** Eureka! It still worked! Movie
mode and play no longer works, but it still takes pretty picts!

On the way to the bridge at the start we ran in to a guy riding
with the yellow jersey. I chased him down and told him “ I’m wearing the yellow!
What’s up? There can’t be two yellow jerseys?” Well we patched things up
and found that he was high tailing it to the bridge to meet some
Roaring Mouse members for a big event. “The Texas 4000” was
underway and riders were passing through on their way from
Texas to Alaska! So we gave him escort but didn’t stay
to watch…We had bobbleheading to do.

We did take a lunch break at Carlos Santana’s favorite lunch spot.
I ate too much and had a little dizziness going on…
which come to think of it , natural for me.
On the way back we ran into, one endless chain of “Blazing Saddles Bikes”
We we’re both blown away with the amount of “Crappy Ridittude”
So many close calls…Where’s my medicine? I’m having a meltdown!
Well, we made it back to my place unscathed and I have to say it
really was another beautiful and interesting ride. I love my Langster.
I think it’s the simplicity. Like being back that place, as a youngster again.
You and the bike, with nothing in between except the excitement of discovery
and the sensuality of movement. I discovered yet again what makes me tick,
what really matters… “Simplicity” Something that none of us get enough of
nowadays. So remember that next time you ride. Keep it simple and only
good thoughts. This is it, one life to live so live it well.
See you tomorrow I hope…I just hope I can sleep. I am way…
! Melodious and jazzed about following the drummers…Manana’
Pete
Sorry for the limited amount of picts…

Pete you must remember, not everybody has the game to keep up with you and your wild rides!! However, there are some of us who choose to live vicariously though your ride reports. With the addition of lots of pictures, I can just substitute my name in, sight some landmarks, and the unsuspecting person I'm fibbing to will think I'm a SS maniac as well! .

Sux about your camera, maybe you could get a sponsorship from a company that builds handlebar mounts?? They'd probably even send you a jersey

See ya tomorrow !!!
