OLH-West Alpine - 8/23
I don't feel like driving really far, so I figure I'd lead a local ride ... well, local to the peninsula at least (heck, I don't even live in the Peninsula). For the benefit of those not wanting to drive anywhere, I figure we could meet at 10 am at Menlo Park Caltrain (Southbound arrives at 9:59, Northbound arrives at 9:34). The ride will go up OLH, N Hwy 35, S 84, then back up West Alpine. West Alpine seems to be the forgotten hill climb (I haven't done that in awhile).
Where: Menlo Park Caltrain
When: 8/23/2008, 10 am (For Marco's benefit)

Hey, Ron,
I might be interested - is it at 9 or 10? Depends on the soccer tournament schedule this weekend.

Oooo. Descending Page Mill, FUN!. I'm tentative. 10am may be too late a start if the family has other plans that day.

So how many real miles? Like from a metaphysical standpoint, are they genuine miles or mind generated according to the immediate speculation of ones cosmic location? Are you feelin my groove man?

Pretty sure I am in for this one. I will be detouring at Arastradero to tack on some more hills as a bonus add on to the route

I changed the gearing on the bike and need to test it.

I've never gone up Los Trancos ... I've always done it the reverse way, Alpine -> Joaquin. Even that was incredibly sadistic.

Los Trancos + Ramona + Vista Verde is harder than Alpine + Joaquin. The former is steep for over 1 mile. The later is steep for only 100 yards or so.

Oh crap ... I just realized I am on-call, so unfortunately, I will not be able to make it ...
So if you all still want to do this, you'll have to do it without me. Sorry guys.

Ron, I'm curious just how many times you get called when you're on-call.
I say laptop, laptop backpack, and 3G data card and you're golden. Come on, it's the 21st century!
