any routes that takes you from Sac to a bart station in the bay?

My buddy's having a bbq in sac on sat. I have a ride there but not a ride back. I can bring my bike. Are there any roads that takes you back to the bay from Sac?

Thanks

The closest BART station to Sacramento is in Bay Point. The most direct route (depending on where in Sacramento you're talking) is probably crossing over the Tower bridge into West Sacramento and taking Jefferson down to South River Road (route 160), and taking that down to Antioch. Something like this. Going to be a long ride, no matter what.

You might look into Amtrak or something, as well.

There are a few routes heading that way here: https://centralcaliforniacycling.com/Here_To_There.html. Not sure where exactly the BART stations are, but it can give you an idea at least.

Or, you can ride from Sac to Vallejo and take the ferry into the City. The trip can be shortened by taking amtrak from sac and getting off either in Davis or Suisun/Fairfield. I'm not sure on the route but it can easily be found. I think Rydaddy takes the trip from Davis to Vallejo on a fairly regular basis.

notthat sweet. But since our friend moved up there, we don't get to hang with him that often. Just thought I should make an effort to get there. He did offer to drive me back though, maybe I'll just hitch a ride or take the train all the way to San Jose.

Just a little reminder about that ride... Typically delta headwind all the way down. Sorry for the buzzkill.

Beat me to it. I ride that direction all the time just so I can turn around and ride the tailwind back to Sac.

The trains have hooks on the first level of most cars to hang your bike. Bring a small lock to lock it the the support. Don't want that bike walking away as your enjoy your drink on the second level. oh, from SJ to Sac is usually a 3hr trip one way.

I have a coworker who lives in Berkeley and she brings her bike for the ride to and from the Amtrak station. She's never had any problems as far as I know.

160 would be your best bet (maybe get there via 116? It's been a long time). It's a nice big (and LONG) route. Beward going over the bridge. There's not much room at all and it's WAAAAY up and WAAAAY down.

I've often wondered about going that route to Sac some day.

Good luck,
RL
