Alpine Road Survey

If you know about the dirt part of Alpine Road (to Page Mill Road), I have a survey for you. I'm interested in being an advocate for making it better, but only if people share similar feelings. Here's the link.

Thanks in advance,
Ray Hosler

I don't know about grading the whole thing, but I would be in favor of fixing the landslide section so that it is passable by road bikes (without walking).

Ray, those are some great pictures on the site. I've done many mountain bike rides up Alpine and through the many trails up on Montebello OSP. The condition of the trail has been getting a lot worse recently. It would be a shame to lose such a great route. In 1995, Tom Ritchey passed me as I was riding up and said a friendly, "Howdy". Too bad I'm spending more time on the roads rather than the trails these days.

I used to climb Alpine Road regularly, until the landslide made a few hundred yards of the road a very difficult haul for road bikes. Alpine was similar in difficulty (and scenery) to Old La Honda Road, except with no cars. Any idea on how much the repairs will cost? After the landslide happened, I remember lots of talk about repairing the road, but they finally decided not to because of the cost.
