Capay Valley Easy, Laid Back Ride, Sunday Nov. 2

Cancelled! Sorry, looks like rain and pretty much everyone else is out. We'll try again in the spring.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I'd like to host another Yolo County easy, laid back ride through the bucolic Capay Valley and Rumsey Canyon on Sunday, November 2 at 9am. We'll start at the Cache Creek Casino and head north on State Highway 16, turning around at State Highway 20 on a straightforward out and back. The valley itself is mostly flat, with easy rollers in the Rumsey Canyon alongside Cache Creek.

54 miles, approximately 1,000' climbing. Easy, laid back pace, with frequent regroups.

It's a beautiful area and is usually pretty quiet-100% rural farm land or undeveloped. Water may not be available-I'll update this as we get closer. Lunch at the casino after is a possibility, and you're more than welcome to leave your paycheck at the casino...

Also, it's the end of Daylight Savings Time, so you'll have an extra hour of sleep...

Rain cancels!!!!

Photos from the last time...

Here's some photos t4mv & I took when we did this ride in March:

This is in the last 50 or so miles of the Davis Double, after you come screaming down Resurrection:

The turnaround at Highway 20:

Rumsey Canyon along Cache Creek:

Cache Creek itself (there won't be this much water in November...):

Put me in as a maybe. That's a 1-1/2 hour drive for me. If anyone in the east bay wants to carpool, let me know......

I put it up early to see if there's interest so I can add it to the Davis Bike Club ride calendar, also. They have a long lead time. I wanted to make sure I had at least one other person riding with me.

Bump.

I haven't been riding at all with my recent work schedule (commuting to Seattle from Sac, oh joy!), but am still planning on leading this ride in three weeks. Post if you're interested...

Pending weather, I'm in. That means, if it's raining when I get up, I won't be there.

Good point. I'm out if it's raining, too.

You can bring the 12-23 on this ride....

We're still interested. We are severely lacking tandem time, and this looks very tandemable.

It's definitely tandemable as my eldest son and I rode with Rushfan and several of the DBC folks earlier this spring. My only complaint about the ride was that there was a headwind coming down the valley as we rode towards 20. Interestingly enough, it turned into sort of a crosswind on the way back...
Other than that, the scenery, pace and company was fantastic.

One of the guys with us lives in the Capay Valley and he said our conditions were typical- headwind in every direction...

I never got out of my middle chainring, so this is ideal for a tandem. Please bring it so I can draft!

Due to "technical difficulties" this ride did not make it into the Davis Bike Club newsletter but I still plan to lead it and will post it to the dbc listserv. Hope to see you on the 2nd. Post with any questions.

Take me off the list - the Giro de Vino is the same day, and that's where I'll be.

If I can get a sitter for the kids, my wife will be joining us. If not, maybe I can carpool with Nico.

I'm keeping an eye on the weather. Showers are forecast right now. I won't be going unless it clears. I admit it, I'm a fair weather rider!

Wow! 59 days flew by. I forgot about this ride until now. Hmm. I may be a no-go since I'm doing a 60-mile ride on Saturday. Not the miles mind you, the time away from the sprouts. Call me a maybe, sorry Joe.

I'm a tentative too ... my RD is acting up and I'm trying to fix it... and for some reason I thought this was on a Saturday - I've been increasingly (and happily) dependent on the Sunday morning Sacramento Farmers Market for my week's meals, and this would compete with that. Won't it be cold anyway on Sunday morning ... afternoon anyone?

I hope it doesn't rain!
