San Bruno Nt: Training Report- How's Progress
So everyone That's racing, Hows you're training coming? What have you been doing?
Todays Report: Friday 26th
Great ride/workout for San Bruno Hill Climb...Only thing missing was Marco/Ruthness. I guess they slept in today. Weather was perfect. Chris, Ramon and I met up at Sports Basement and rode the scenic route out to San Bruno Mountain. Henry was right on time and looking stunningly fashionable!
Chris just took off atlightspeed while the three of us ran a competitive pace up the mountain.
I was really thankful for Ramon being there, he sets the perfect pace and I'd had trouble in the last two rides finding a good groove, so it helped a lot.
It's really important finding the correct pace for that mountain. I think I hammer too early. I felt I had more leftover at the end and I'll be able to sprint it out the last section. My first run was right at 20:50 and the next was 19 something, so I'm really happy with those times. I'd love to do 19 flat...I'd be happy with that.
DORKSHOT:
I have my money on Chris. I think he's going to nail it for sure, if not the record time! This is going to be fun. It will be fun to see Mary Ellen make mince meat out of the competition also! I'm more excited about all the NorCal gang that will be competing than doing it myself. I think there will be maybe a dozen NorCal'rs present. I'm hoping we can get a group shot, this will be epic! So many Local Hero's I feel proud and honored!!!!!
This is what will be left of the competition!

My legs feel really tired and maybe even a bit sore... It must mean they're getting stronger right?
Now if I can only lay off the chocolate and prime rib leftovers.

Sorry I missed out on today.
Ruth and I were exhausted. I "seriously" tried to get up, but my body wouldn't even function.
I tried to text Ramon at around 8:45, but apparently I was too tired to hit "send" on the message.
Anyway we are planning to go tomorrow, and be at the hill around 10:30 am (starting from our place around 9am). Hopefully I will see some of you out there!
Later,
Marco & Ruth

Rich and I are also planning on doing x2 up San Bruno tomorrow (Sat) - we'll be starting from Genentech sometime around 10 AM so hope to see you - we're not going to aim for any personal bests tomorrow - going to save that for New Years Day. I'm also nursing a pulled hamstring - I think it will be fine for the race.

Hermes and I did our pre-race/training ride up San Bruno this morning with two climbs. We started from the Genentech campus but it still wasn't adequate warm up. My engine was still pretty cold at the beginning of the climb. All in all it was a good day for the climb - no wind and partly sunny. We met up with BottleRocket (Tim) at the top after our second climb and saw Marco climbing up on our second descent. The weather is looking great for New Year's Day. See you there. We will be on our trainers in the parking lot before the race.

Are you sure you saw me?
We got there pretty late, and I don't remember seeing anyone going down.
Anyway we only got one hill climb in, since we weren't feeling it all today.
I managed a 20:01 including getting stuck at that light for maybe 15-20 seconds.
I struggled to keep my HR in check, I don't know why.
Ruth was having an off day, but she made it.
We rode along the bay, 18.5 miles to the start, and rode the same way back.

Damn! I knew I wasn't feeling 100%. I woke up this morning with a full on sore throat, weak/stiff feeling etc...
Still don't feel that great, but Ruth & I are planning to hit SB Mtn in a couple hours for 2 or 3 repeats.
Man, I hope I feel better by Thursday!

No ride yesterday, but got in a NIGHT ride on San Bruno Mountain tonight.
Ruth and I did 1.5 repeats (Once all the way up and then repeated the Radio Road half).
The Radio Road half of SB Mountain is great at night because.. well.. it's closed So you have to hop the gate, but there are ZERO cars.
