Tour for Woodside

Is anybody doing this one? www.tourforwoodside.com

My dad got me to sign up for the 100 mile route. I am excited since this is the first organized ride I have done since the deathride. I would love to meet up with some fellow bikeforum members so I don't get bored riding by myself.

I'll be there but only signed up for 32 miles since I have to ride along with my wife and a few other friends and they are new to cycling.

When do people expect to hit Kings Mountain? I can provide some company for the ride.

Well that was scary.
I hit the Kings Mountain around 9:30 and then again around 10:30. The difference in rider level was very striking. Around 10:30 more riders with poorly fitted bikes, low cadence, etc. One was bad enough I had to comment. His seat was way too low, and he was chugging a long at 20rpms. Looking at his rear cassette it looked like he was running 11/21 . He did have a triple, but refused to use smallest cog. I hope his knees made it.
Anyway what made it scary are @#$#$ drivers who were passing people on blind corners. Going up I saw one descending cyclist was almost taken out by some idiot in an SUV. Similar thing almost happened to me on the way down, but not that bad/close. They really should have freaken signs telling drivers not to pass this way or something!
On a bright side, when I was going up first time I had a nice chat with someone doing residency at Stanford. It made the climb go by faster. Plus she warned me about some redneck in black pickup truck who likes to play games and harass cyclists. Apparently he is well known in the area, and of course cops rather give cyclists tickets at stop signs then stopping that yahoo.

Alas she already has a boyfriend. Besides I don't think it's polite to hit on random female cyclists.

Would it be more polite to hit on specific female cyclists?

Eh not sure what you mean by specific. My point was when I strike a conversation it's not for the purpose of getting a number, but just to be friendly and it makes the ride go by faster. Listening to the same tunes on same route gets kind of boring. lol

Don't mind me, I just found the idea of 'random' vs 'specific' funny in this context.

Yeah "random" probably wasn't the correct choice of words. lol
