NorCal East, Sun Feb 7, Cantelow, Steady Eddy's

First off, lunch at Steady Eddy's!

Ok, now that that's out of the way...

I haven't ridden Cantelow in a year or so, it's about time to do it again. So let's do a Cantelow ride!

Sunday Feb 7, rolling at 9am. Winters Loop twice, clockwise, then counter clockwise. So we get to climb it in both directions and get some mileage.

Probably something like 50 miles total. Oh, and we'll keep the pace down too. Call it 15'ish on the flats with periodic regroups?

Anyone interested?

I'll be racing in Napa that day... otherwise I'd be there. If you're feeling like an epic climb I suggest detouring to Mix Canyon Road (instead of a second lap). It's a killer climb and less than a mile from the bottom of Cantelow west. Awesome views, especially if you continue up the gravel road another half mile.

Darn. You come out this way and I'll be out at Bodega Bay for training camp. Sorry Joel. Maybe one of them "Laid Back Rides" when the weather clears up.

Can't be there. I'm going riding with Lisa & her STC group. It's her first "real" ride since injuring her knee!

Thinking of shortening the route, but increasing the suffer factor. Climb and go over from east to west. Turn around and go back up and over. Turn around and go back up and over (we're back to east to west) and finish the loop.

3 repeats!

I once drove to the bottom of Cantelow East and went back-and-forth 5 times for a total of 10 climbs. It drove me crazy after the first few. It is a great repeat hill though.

You really should check out Mix. It's beautiful and Sunday will be a perfect day. You can always turn around if it's too much for your hernia. Just sayin.

Here's the thing about Mix. I'm not intimidated by the climb. Going up is good. It's coming down that scares me. Descents like that one make me really nervous.

I'm on the brakes the entire time. In fact, I stop a few times along the way just to be sure my rims stay cool. It gets better after the first two miles heading down, but I hear what you're saying. Be safe whatever you do.
