Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Mrs. O had TNT today and I had the kids. Tomorrow it is supposed to dump rain.
The Solvang Double Century is in 6 weeks. How do I get my long ride in this weekend?

5 hours on the trainer that is how. Am I nuts? Maybe, but I enjoyed it.
I watched "Breaking Away" for the middle 2 hours with the kids.

Here's proof of my madness.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/25156825

What lays broken deep inside of me that causes me to enjoy suffering so?
Do I even want to know?

Training for the Solvang double in the rain is hardcore. 5 hours on a trainer is just plain nuts!

How to you gain 39 feet on a trainer?

One of the GPS satellites slowly losing orbit. Had he continued, he would have climbed, and climbed, and climbed... and then gone back to normal as the satellite burned up in the atmosphere.

Yowsa. That's five times as long as I've ever spent on my trainer.

Who says Solvang will have perfect weather? Ride in the rain, and it will prepare you for that, just in case it does happen ... and it might!

Darn you. I got guilted into a bit over an hour in teh rain. I can't imagine that kind of time on the trainer. Now I feel truly sloth like. You'll be ready for Solvang, I just hope I am....

Dude. You are insane. There is a padded room with your name on the door, at the Crazy Cyclists' Insylum. In fact, you have the master suite. Enjoy it. You have certainly earned it.

It looks like you have no speed. If you are using a Gramin you can turn off GPS and get the speed/"distance" numbers. Heck, you can get HR too, all plotted or you.
Looks like you'll have to doo it all over again.

It is said that 1 hour on the trainer is worth 1.5 hours on the road.
You had a 7.5 hour ride, that's probably equivalent to 110 to 120 miles. You will be the most prepared for Solvang.

Not trying to be a troll here, but you could have just ridden in the rain. It's just water, I promise it won't hurt you.

Sounds like a contest now! I'm trying to be the most prepared...

But, I'll never ride more than an hour on my spin bike unless there is some sort of contest or corporal punishment involved.
