DMD Training Ride: 8AM Saturday Fremont Bart

A group of the usual suspects are going to do a DMD training ride this Saturday.
Meet at West Side of Fremont Bart at 8 AM

This is the fun that will ensue.
Head out of Fremont Bart...
Niles Canyon out to Sunol
Valecitos Rd into Livermore
Climb Mines Rd
Climb Back Side of Hamilton
Climb Sierra Road
Nice cool down on Mission Blvd back to Fremont Bart.

113 miles with 10,000 Feet of Climbing

Map (courtesy of spingineer): https://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Cour...?course=214782

All are welcome to join but... This is a very difficult course, and take your early season fitness into account before deciding to try it.

We will try to have re-groups and not get too strung out, but with this much climbing people will be climbing at their own pace. We may get split up. That is o.k. I will bring route sheets so lost sheep can find their way home. (who knows, I may be one of them)

Hope to see you there. Who's in?

Lance, have fun.
Another site to try is bike route toaster https://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx
BTW you just might want to know that ridewithgps does overstate the climbing. I get a far lower number with bikeroutetoaster. When I mapped the terrible two route on ridewithgps, it said the course has 20k of climbing. I think it is between 16000 and 16480.
Bikeroutetoaster says 15840 for TT route....much closer.

I thought originally it was 102.6 miles ... where'd the extra 10.4 miles come from?

Starting in Sunol = 102
Consensus was to start in Fremont for the extra 10.4, but more convenient for a lot of folks.

Yeah, I'll be there.

That restaurant at the Junction is still open for water/supplies, yeah?

Me, too. Their "San Antonio" chili-cheese dog is very, very good.

The fast guys are hoping for about 4PM. I am not so optimistic. Maybe for me closer to 5PM
But, I will hang with the fast guys as long as I can.

In. I'm in need of a long training ride like this. Where should we exactly meet at Fremont BART? The parking lots are pretty big.

I'll be pacing from the caboose ... Hill climbs are not my specialty. I may be shooting for a 6 pm finish time, knowing my pace.

We are meeting at the West side of the station. Usually for these things we park wherever and then meet right in front of the actual BART station. Like, where the BART riders exit. So in this case, If there are 2 sides to the station, meet at the West side.

This sounds like a fun little loop! I'm thinking about riding to the start and then skipping the Sierra part and just taking Quimby home. That would keep it to a reasonable 130 miles for the day (and a mere 7500' of climbing)

I've never ridden on I-680 before. Maybe it's time to do so.

I have done that 200 yards on the shoulder to get to 84 /Valecitos Rd into Livermore many times. Really it is no biggie.

I'm thinking of joining you guys. I've never done Mines Road, so it should be fun. Sierra Rd at almost mile 90 will be a challenge.

I am thinking of joining you from mile 24 to mile 67 - doing an out and back. Mines should be looking good right now. You should be hitting Mines/Del Valle around 9:20ish?
