According to the article, if the DA can prove the alleged killer was drunk, that would add five years to the potential four year sentence he could face. This problem really needs to be fixed. We need hit-and-run to have such high penalties that people would be clearly best served by not driving away from the CARnage they cause. Mr. Parke might have survived if the driver who hit him had stopped and summoned aid.
