Safe or dangerous?

Not surprising that there is no comment section for the article. My concern would be more about the exiting passengers than it would be for the cabs themselves. One passenger of ten may actually be aware that they are exiting to a traffic lane for bikes. A whole new meaning given to " getting doored."

There is a comment section, which you may be censoring if you are running some kind of script killer in your browser.
More comments here, too: https://sf.streetsblog.org/2011/10/25...ck-bike-lanes/

I'm on my Blackberry. I missed the section. I'll certainly look at it from my pc.
Edit: I saw just as I expected to see in the comments. Cagers, what a bunch of wimps.

This is a fantastic idea! What could possibly go wrong?
They're basically legalizing something that happens all the time: a bunch of aggressive and oblivious drivers (at least in my experience with SF cabbies) zooming in and out of bike lanes and stopping whenever they want. Not good.

a move welcomed by drivers sick of getting nailed with $105 parking tickets
“The bicyclists may not like this, but I don’t think they can complain about much, considering they run red lights all the time,” Healy said.
