Tell me about the Webcor guys
Hey all,
I am relocating for work from LA to Mountain View in a couple of weeks where I don't know too many people. Just got a Garmin 800 for solo rides to explore the area, but I am also looking for local training rides to hop on.
I don't race right now but really enjoy the fast-paced group rides (Montrose ride here in LA is one of my favs). Will most likely get into racing once I move up. That leads me to Webcor/Alto Velo. What's the reputation of this club in the area? Friendly? Eliteists? No right or wrong answer, really. I read about them online but just wanna get some local perspective.
What other local clubs would you guys reco?
Thanks!

I lead the A/V Saturday B-Ride, so I'm biased. I think it's a good club. The Sunday A-Ride and Saturday B-Ride are open to anyone that shows up. My suggestion is to show for the rides (9AM at Peet's on State St. in Los Altos) as well as other local club rides and decide for yourself. The B-Ride is more suited to beginning racers or if you just want to hang-out on a reasonably fast-paced ride. It's not a "no drop" ride but we do have re-groups along the route (which is different each week depending on the whim of the ride leader. :-) ).
