Diablo Daughter and I will be volunteering at Power Stop #2 (mile 24). If anybody here is doing the ride, introduce yourself!

Diablo Daughter and I are volunteering again. I suspect volunteerism is way down for this event because the organizer is sending out desperate e-mail solicitaitons for more help.

I anticipate a big disappointment for the organization this year, and disaster next year.

Donations are down too of course.

Livestrong revenue 2009 - $40MM
Livestrong revenue 2010 - $30MM
Livestrong revenue 2011 - $24MM
Livestrong revenue 2012 - $20MM

I'll be riding it... but I'm sure you're right about the direction the organization is heading - its really too bad, as they do some great work.
I know of one guy in particular who really appreciated all the information he found on their site - it really helped him to know what questions
to ask as he started (successful) treatment last year.

I'll be at PowerStop #2... which isn't necessarily the second stop depending on which route you're doing... it's the one at the fire station. I'll be wearing a volunteer T-shirt and a Team ClubSport vest. Say HI!

Did the ride, really happy with every aspect of it - the support was great. I was still hanging with the lead group at power stop two, so I didn't get a chance to say hi, but thanks for being there, I know everyone on my team appreciated the support.

We about ran out of food; so the slower riders thank you for not eating it before they got there.

I did the century ride, wish I saw this post before, I would have said hi. The 2nd rest stop was crazy because everyone had to use the port-a-potties (guess we were all thinking the same thing and loaded up on water before hand). Still, the support was great, and the weather was perfect. Saturday was 90+ degrees but Sunday the clouds miraculously rolled in and it was cool the whole way. I'd say the majority of the ride had a tailwind (when does that ever happen?).

I wondered how the scandal would affect the turnout; I really hope people can see beyond that and still contribute to the foundation.

This was mile 10 for the 20 mile riders, and mile 25 for everybody else.
Here's what happens at a rest stop -

Set up, organize things, twiddle your thumbs for an hour.
Riders start to trickle in, then it gets crazy for about an hour, then it peters off to nothing and you shut down and clean up.

There were two portapotties - I'm not sure how many would be the right number; there were long lines for the whole hour of craziness, and the rest of the time they were empty.

I don't know who decided what food to put at what rest stop, but there were lots of riders disappointed that we didn't have peanut butter sandwiches. We were out of everything but granola bars by the time the last rider rolled in (she got a CHP escort sweeper).

Twelve scoops of Gatorade per giant water cooler... I'm not sure if that was the perfect ratio or not - some folks said it was a little weak.

I wish I saw this post also before the ride. I think I remember seeing you DiabloScott. Thanks for volunteering!

We totally lucked out on weather this year. It would have been toasty if we rode on Saturday. I had a great ride and finished the century well under 5 hours. It was pretty awesome...

Livestrong Davis revenue:
2011 - $1,000,000
2012 - $0,600,000
2013 - $0,380,000
2014 - $0,000,000

In other news, I saw a Livestrong-themed Giro helmet the other day for half the price of the identical model in any other color.

Kinda sad. While bringing LA down, there will be a lot of collateral damage.

i am willing to guess that many, if not all, of the people who benefitted from the foundation's work couldn't care less about the doping issues. Maybe I am wrong...
