no one has hassled me when I have done it. If they had I wouldn't have suggested it. There is often parking along Blackhawk right before it as well.

I used the vented helmet mount. I know I move my head around too much when I'm suffering on a climb, but the helmet mount offers the best sound quality and view of the scenery off to the side when I look at it as I'm riding.

I've climbed Diablo three more times since I started this thread. The second climb was the Morgan Territory-Mt. Diablo ride. I did this in March, and I felt good until the last four miles of the Diablo climb, which was the last climb of the day of course.

Here's a few pics from that ride.

Here's video of the Morgan Territory climb. I now use a GoPro HD Hero on the helmet mount. I use the Hero 1 instead of the Hero2, since it gets much better battery life. The Hero3's battery life is even worse, according to reviews.

Here's where I ran out of energy and cramped up right at the Mt. Diablo summit sign.

Since I sucked so badly on that climb, I decided to go back the next weekend and do a make-up climb. I did 1 1/2 climbs this time. I rode North Gate to the ranger station, descended South Gate, then climbed back up South Gate to the summit. I still suffered on the last three miles or so, but I did a little better this time.

The third climb was in April. I drove my riding partner down to San Ramon so he could do the Devil Mountain Double. While he was doing that, I climbed South Gate Road to the summit. I wasn't feeling 100%, so once again it was a sufferfest.

I like to take pics at the summit every time I climb Diablo, because it always looks different.
