Stage Road

Anyone know what happened? Parts of it are now packed dirt.

Is it dirt in places that make it treacherous?

I rode Stage on Saturday. They have ripped off the asphalt from the south side of the southern hill. It is currently packed dirt. Looks like they are repaving the road. I think the sign said they would be working on it through September. It was ok to climb northbound. I did see a few people heading southbound, but I wouldn't want to descend on that surface.

I wonder why the county (or Caltrans) felt this road needed to be repaved. Stage never seemed that bad to me and I can think of other roads that need more attention (west side OLH, North street in Pescadero, Gazos Creek).

I rode it southbound on Sunday. It was ok I just had to go slow. I agree it didn't seem to need repaving.
