I haven't been on Bike Forums in a while so I don't know if the old regulars are still here. Has there been a get-together lately? Is there any interest in another? How about a slowpoke/social ride and lunch? Putting my ego on the line here so hopefully some of you folks will chime in. It would be nice to see you people again.

I take offense to being called "you people ".
The correct term is M.A.M.I.L. (Middle Aged Man In Lycra)

Put a route together, a day, a meet up, a time, and it get it out there.
I would love to ride with you again.

I'd join up if the date works.

I'll go if my wrists are healed enough to ride. Depends on the date and healing status.

i've ridden with a few of you (people), heh, heh, heh, in the past. and would enjoy another one. unfortunately, i'm not in a position to drive to the starting point. but if it's anywhere in the east bay area, i'm in.

here's a suggestion (just a suggestion mind you). how about walnut creek, martinez, crockett (via carquinez scenix drive) vallejo, benicia, martinez, walnut creek. benicia has a lot of nice places to eat. not that i normally eat a nice places.

Don't believe I've had the pleasure of riding with any of you folks, at least not knowingly. But I'd surely enjoy meeting y'all. 'Course it all depends on when (Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and naturally weekend days work best for me) since I'm still a working stiff. As far as a start point, just about anywhere in Contra Costa would be fine with me.

Being a newbie to the board, I missed the original 'ride' of a few years ago.
I am in if within 100 miles of SF and considering that I ride mostly single speeds, I hope this ride is more social than who is wearing the yellow jersey.

Count me in if it is not overly fast and not too far from the East Bay.

It would be a nice change for me as I always ride solo!

The list is growing. This is great! Good to hear from you too, t4mv!

hueyhoolihan, the route you listed is in my backyard. I'm in Benicia. Some of the MAMIL's are from a distance away so I am open to driving to the starting point. I volunteer to be the DD for anyone coming from my way. I have two bike racks on the roof and a four bike holder off the rear hatch of my Ford Escape.

I haven't ridden in a while so if anyone has a fave route, please suggest it. The very first slowpoke was in San Ramon then we had lunch at a BBQ place.

My hero is the tortoise not the hare. Slow poke is just my speed but I'm about 1900 miles too far away. I'll join "y'all" in spirit if that's ok though.

A bit over 5 weeks ago I got taken out by a guy with very poor bike handling skills. Broke 2 bones in my right hand (a metatarsal and the hamate in the wrist) and the hamate bone in my left wrist. Along with a partial separation in my left shoulder. Shoulder is fine. Wrists take a long time to heal. I'm likely to be off the bike until April.

I haven't been on my bike in months, maybe even a year. Please make a note to yourself; do not ride close to me. Hope you heal up quick.

Just to set your mind at ease, this was a rider who should have known better. And most importantly, he's been highly resistant to learning the skills necessary for safe group riding. If he was willing to learn, I wouldn't be so angry about it.

Joel, 'sorry to read of your crash. I say don't get mad, get even, and hook 'im on the next ride. OK, I'm just kidding so don't go gettin' yourself in trouble.. What do you guys think of reprising the original B&B Slowpoke Ride? It's in the east bay and appears to cover many of the folks replying, I think. From the peninsula it's a straight shot over 92 & 580 to get to the start.

Chris,

I haven't ridden much since last July. We can ride together. Let me know what you're planning on doing, and maybe we can cobble something together.

hueyhoolihan,

I live in San Ramon, which is only about 10 miles from you. I can pick you up on the way, if I end up doing this ride.

Great idea, Chris. Pick a date, time and place. Assuming it isn't on a date when I have other obligations, I and one of my freakishly large bikes are in.

FYI, Top Forty BBQ is kaput, so we'd have to find another venue for after-ride feasting. Not to worry, though, there are plenty of alternatives nearby.

Lots of interest! I'm looking forward to seeing old and new faces. Everyone, please look at your April and May calendars. I want to give JoelS more time to heal plus I need some saddle time. I am thinking April 13/14, 20/21 or May 18/19. But of course, I have to run these dates by the Mrs though she might want to join us.

I'm not going to be able to give you any more than a maybe until the day before. So don't wait on me. If I'm healed enough, I'll join you.
