Foxy's Fall Century

Tricia (MyLilPony) really likes this ride, so we do it most years, this one being no exception.
I realized that even though I have a lot of miles, this will be my first century this year

Last year Lanceoldstrong and Midland blew past us at warp nine, so we "saw" them briefly.

Anyway, if you are interested, sign up soon as it sells out.

At Warp Nine or Sub-space speeds it is a great Bike Trek.
If you prefer Warp Nine, just grab a wheel and try to Klingon.

I'm signed up for the family fun ride with Diablo Daughter on our tandem, and the neighbor kid on his MTB. Probably won't see any of you there since it starts later and is only 50km.

I did the metric two years back. Great ride....lots of smiling people on bikes. Well supported by the Davis Bike club. I signed up the day reg opened...I am doing the century....Cardiac Hill.....here I come. This will be the 2nd century I have ever done...and the 2nd one this year. This year is turning out to be a banner year for me personally!

Two weeks prior I am doing another great and well supported ride in Lakeport, CA.

https://www.konoctichallenge.com/

I highly suggest that people check this one out...if you have never rode it or heard of it. They have a rest stop competition that the rides get to vote for their favorite rest stop. So the groups running the rest stop go all out...sometimes they are themed stops...the foods etc are really good @ the rest stops and the ending meal.

What a lovely cycling enterprise. Just make sure that the rubber on your tires is properly vulcanized. And pray that you don't run into Kim or any of the other Kardasians.

Well, I signed up. This will be the first year doing this ride on my single. I think we've done this 4 times on the tandem, the first time the Century and the remainder the 100K. It's a very nice ride. The bad news is I've got to drive up the morning of the ride, about 3 hours, but I'm an early riser anyway. I'm only doing rides where I can drive up in the am, the sole exception being the Lighthouse.

I'm doing only 80 miles of the Lighthouse century, but if that goes well, I'll go ahead and do the Foxys century if my butt holds out.

That's right, it requires a very early rising to drive there, even from where I am. Somehow I'd blocked that out of my memory.
I shouldn't have. One year we forgot to sign up and ended up going so early we stood in line in total darkness for an hour to register.

Some day I need to do the Lighthouse ride.

Ya'll have fun. I'm done with these big SAG supported rides, for a variety of reasons.

I don't know what your reasons are, but I sometimes feel that way. Sometimes there are just too many people around.

And it feels silly to pay money to do a ride I could do on my own. Heck, you and I have knocked out 100 miles with no support (and in huge winds as well)

But I still sometimes like the change up. And the idea that it's an event.

So I'm doing this one, the Diablo Challenge, the Veterans Victory Velo bike for Wounded Warriors (Good cause and some BF people I like to ride with) and the Lodi Giro d Vino (because ... wine.)

Signed up for this with some guys from work. My first time doing an organised ride, or a century of any kind, since I was a teenager, but looking forward to it.

Always have to do this ride, not the most inspiring route but some very good wineries. Best part is at the wine pickup when you see how much you actually bought. Did this ride unsupported this year for fun and got pretty weighed down.

I just did this one. Beautiful weather, just a little wind. I can't say enough for the support. Great people at the Davis Bike Club. One of the sag drivers brought me a bottle of water when I was out going up cardiac hill, and I kept all of them out late seeing the last rider (me) in. A good ride.

I've always wanted to do this ride but it conflicts with my kids' soccer. I know a guy who did the ride on a fixed gear, which is epic.

There was a fixie leaning against the mechanics' stand at the Wooden Valley stop, and I saw at least one other SS out on the road (the SS may have had a Sturmey Archer gear, though; I didn't get close enough to check). If you're gonna do any century on a fixie, I'd say it'd be that one.

I really enjoyed the day; like others have said, great weather, well organised, good support, a lot of riders at these events could learn a bit more about road etiquette, but mostly an enjoyable experience.

You couldn't have been the last rider in.

You couldn't have been the last rider in; we were, at 5:58 PM. (That's clock time, not elapsed time!)

One of the sag drivers (in the blue Prius) was waiting for us at the last two or three major intersections, to make sure we'd get in, and went on as soon as we passed. I finally said something to him when we stopped at a light about 3 and a half miles from the end.

I couldn't have been prouder if I was the first rider in. 16 months ago I almost died, and then I almost died again 12 months and 2 weeks ago. Saturday, I finally road 100 miles for the first time. Not bad for an old couch potato.

Nice of the organizers to arrange for the free professional photography guys... but if it takes three days to get the photos posted that's kind of lame.

https://captivatingsportsphotos.net/find-my-race/

Their normal procedure is just posting proofs and trying to sell prints like most of the other guys in the business, so I'm guessing DBC paid them for this free download package.

A couple of my friends single-speed'ed it. That's a tough ride in a 42/15. OUCH.

Nice blog write. Incidentally, it's the other riders on the road that are the main reason I've decided no more of these types of rides. The older I get (and the more my injuries bother me) the less I want to be around sketchy riders.

This was my first century and I truly enjoyed it. I actually chatted to one of the fixie guys on the way to the Cardiac Hill summit as he pushed his bike through. Definitely respect his effort. If you saw a guy on a military green mountain bike, that was me.
