The inaugural Coup de Cascades is a 425 mile ultra marathon bicycle race on September 24-25th 2011. It will start and end in Redmond, WA, after making a loop through the Cascade Mountains of Washington State. The race is being organized by the Redmond Rousers Rotary as a fundraiser to support the global efforts of Rotary International, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to eradicate polio worldwide (www.endpolio.org). Anyone from any country is invited to compete in this event. All U.S.A. rules, and Rules of the Road apply.
There will also be "1/2 Century" (53 miles) and "Century" (101 miles) leisure Rides for noncompetitive bicycle enthusiasts.
An awards party will be held at the end of the race on Sunday Sept 25th, to honor all race/ride participants and those who worked to organize the event. A $2,000.00 Grand Prize will be awarded by a random drawing of all qualified racers/riders.
