In the afternoons, Boones Ferry (between Lake Oswego and Lewis and Clark College (at Boones Ferry Terwilliger intersection) can be a bit harrowing (fast cars, turns, & hlls, and little-to-no bike lane). It's about a 2-mile stretch.

You can skirt this road by changing to a route that only adds about 1 extra mile (5ish minutes, given the hills), and changes the afternoon north-bound route dynamics from having about 30 cars pass you from behind, in your lane, to about 0, 1, or 2 cars passing you (and at only 25 mph on residential streets.)

(Note: If you look at the map, just south of Arnold St, where Lancaster and 27th street meet, that's a little gravel road connecting the two. If you're driving northeast from 27th to Lancaster, then you simply run into a dead-end, which has a little barricade that has a little path for pedestrians to pass through onto the gravel road. If you're traveling south on Lancaster, then after passing Arnold, look to your right. There will be a gravel road to turn right onto there, which takes you to 27th. Cars can't pass through on that. I think that after you pass Arnold going south, the gravel road to turn a right on is only 1 block away...and i think it's the first available right turn-off (or maybe the first.) In either case, the gravel road is only half a block long to 27th street.) If you're going in this southward direction, then after you get off the gravel road onto 27th, GET READY for a monster hill! : ))
