Welcome to the forum lots of nice people here and if you get a new bike you should know in advance we require pictures so we can drool and be envious especially if its a nice Vintage bike. If you are into classic and vintage bikes check out the C+V section we love pictures more than anyone else on the forum. I'm posting this to beat Easthill to the punch. Seriously though welcome. Its all about having fun

I've mostly been lurking on BF the last few months with the odd question here or there.
I did a lot of riding and some very mediocre (at best) racing in the late 90's but got lured away by surfing & snowboarding. Just started back riding seriously this Winter after a 7 year hiatus but I'm making decent progress. I was never fast but always had a high tolerance for suffering...
My first 'real' bike was a 1st generation Trek 5200 which I later upgraded to a custom steel LandShark in '97. I added a new Seven Aerios last month which got it's first triple digit ride last weekend.
I'll do the 1-day STP this year & the HPC for sure. I have long-term aspirations of doing the Hoodoo 500 or something similar. That being the case, I designed the new Seven to be very plush and comfy for endurance rides while remaining very light for climbing (I need all the help I can get). Here's a couple pics:

Shoreline/Edmonds (WA) here.
I suppose I'm still a n00b. I rode a little last summer for exercise. This year, I decided to not use a car for as many nearby trips as I can, expanding the range as quickly as my body and the terrain will let me. My wife bought into the idea, and suddenly we've accumulated a fleet of bikes for us and our son, including a couple Xtracycles. We're logging how few times we actually need 2 cars, with the goal of letting one go. We work and school mostly at home, so commuting is difficult - the bikes just don't fit down the hallway. Even so, I'll be riding to the Shoreline ride-to-work checkpoint on Friday to be counted.
I got a flat tire on a car the other night, and I'm looking forward to hauling it to Les Schwab on the X, just for the visual.
Thanks for reading!

Hi there. I'm a cyclist who skis in the off-season. Or, given that I've been skiing five months already this year (thank you La Nina!), maybe I'm a skier who cycles in the off-season? I don't know anymore...
I'm in Woodinville, WA. The hazard of living here is that sooner or later you decide that it would be a good idea to go on a wine-tasting trip via bicycle. I rate this as a high degree of difficulty (expert winos only) and would not recommend it to anyone!
I keep meaning to join the Cascade bicycle club. I've had a great time skiing with folks I've met via the internet, and hope to meet up for rides as well. I ride a Felt flat-bar road bike.

For our newest member, Neurodoc, let me suggest not only Cascade, but the local bike club in Snohomish County: www.bikesclub.org

Well, East Hill, I tried to do the spare tire trick, but it was heavier than I expected. Mounting it on the side made the bike want to twist and wobble crazily, and strapping it to the top deck felt top-heavy. That, plus having just changed a tire in the heat, helped me decide that it's okay for the car to carry its own parts.
However, last night I towed my son's bike about 4 miles to pick him up, and we rode home together. I'm sorry, my camera is MIA. I'll post some pictures when it turns up.

Greetings,
I've been a regular reader and occasasional poster in the CV forums for quite awhile but really haven't checked out this forum. I live in Seattle (Wallingford, 6 blocks up from Gasworks) and ride as often as I can...definition: 1-2 hour rides on the weekends and occasional "extended" rides to the grocery store during the week. I am a bike junkie though trying to keep my fleet to around 7 (one for each day of the week!) ... today my main rides are a Bleriot and several vintage steeds...71 Paramount, 72 PX-10, a couple Univega's, plus others. I'm a teacher so five more weeks until the real riding season begins.

Hi everyone. Beaverton, Oregon here.
I've been posting in the commuting forum for a short while now, but have neglected this area.
I live in Beaverton and commute daily to Hillsboro. About a year ago I was daydreaming of a Prius with a solar panel on the roof that would get me to work and back without using any gas. Then I realized I could probably do that with a bike for about $30,000 cheaper. A year later I'm daydreaming about how nice a bike I could get for $30,000.

Well, I live in Tacoma/Lakewood since most people think I live in Tacoma. I work on McNeil Island and commute at night since I work graveyard. It's a 12 mile round trip. Now that I got a new/used bike, I can maybe do some touring this summer.

Hi there.
Im up in rainy bellingham. Im new to the bike forums, been creeping around for a few days. I waited to make my introduction post for my first road bike to show up!. Although something tells me you guys will like my old one better....
I've been casually riding a Bianchi equinox for about 3 years, wasn’t till last spring when i put the slicks on it that i realized what i was missing spending all my time in the woods. (i've been along time mountain biker).
The Bianchi was bought new by my dad, i got my hands on it around 4 years ago. But i thought it was lame and uncomfortable to ride. I never used it off road cause I preferred the mountain bike for the type of riding I did. Once I got the slicks and panniers I realized how awesome road riding is.
The whips:
New Iron horse triumph 5. Haven’t ridden it yet as the rear wheel is way out to true, and I don’t trust myself to tune it. Also, I’ve never had a “new” bike before, or a road bike. So any tips would be appreciated
The equinox. (bad pic, whoops)
Anyone know about the Araya VX-400 wheels? I’ve been chatting with New Order about the rest of the bike, he filled in a lot of knowledge gaps I had about it. I’m having a hellva time tuning the brake squeal out of the back. It has new pads, I took the tire off and hand sanded the **** out of the brake surface. ( I guess I need to work on my shoe alignment skills huh?) Also, the Suntour components have never been greased , I see theres alittle spot on the rear hub to push some grease, what do I connect to do this? Any other tips on older bikes\ road bikes would be nice.
I also have a pretty nice Baracuda Comp that is very well equipped for a bike of that time. No pictures though as it’s with my Ski to sea mountain biker is borrowing it.
Anyways, glad to be acquainted with you all, anyone this far north doing road rideing?
-Scott

I'm Jeff from Albany Oregon, (70 miles south of Portland on I-5). I checked in on the introduction forum, and now here. It looks like I am the only member in this tread from Albany,(yes I read all 22 pages) but it looks there a few members here from Corvallis. Anyway, I am looking for a new road bike to replace my mountain bike. I hope to get in some fun bike rides with one of local clubs and maybe meet some of the members here.

Seems there are a couple guys just right around the corner.
