Covered Bridge Century, Aug 12

This is a beautiful ride, and tours over 5 historic covered bridges east of Albany. It's this coming Sunday, the forecast is for a perfect Oregon summer day. I'll be starting at 7:00 am, anyone else planning to do this one?

We are doing the 85 mile option. Can't find a profile for this ride, have your riden it before?

Yes, several times. The 85 is a good option, you have 2 really good climbs, but you miss the "killer" climb on the century route, so it's a wise choice. The last 30 miles has some chip seal pavement, but overall it's a great ride, and well done by the Mid-Valley Bike Club.

What a beautiful day for a century ride in the Willamette Valley! We had a group of 8 to 10 riders from Eugene, including skiph from Newport, nice pace (18 mph average on my computer) for this well supported century. It was a cool day, sunny and 49 degrees at 7:00 am when we started out, with a high in the mid-70's in the afternoon, perfect! Rest stops were well stocked, and it was fun to stop and compare notes on the route ahead, and refill the water bottles. The only downside to this ride is the few miles of rough chip seal roads, and a couple of REALLY strong smelling sheep and pig farms that we had to pass, but overall it's a great ride in the farm country east of Albany, OR and up to the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, the route crossing 5 historic covered bridges along the way.
