hi

What should I do?

My boyfriend and I are going to be heading out to Oregon next month, and we are trying to find a place to stay. We don’t want to stay in a hotel, we want to stay somewhere close to where we are riding. Someone told me about renting a vacation rental. Has anyone ever tried this, or know of any good places to go to for them? I’ve checked out a site called www.homeaway.com and www.destinationgone.com. There was another site called www.vacationrentals.com but it seemed real old school. Let me know what you guys think, because we are going to have a group of people, and it would be more fun to have our own place rather then a hotel. Thanks!

Emily

I have used vacationrental.com several times with good results. Just do your homework. Ask the owner a lot of questions. You will get a feel as to how the whole process will go. If they don't answer your questions quickly or you get a bad feelings go on to another house.

thanks

Oh. Thanks. I looked at that site and the design of it was kind of old so I wasn't sure if it was even current info. I called one and they said that thier property was acctually for sale now instead of being a rental. I kind of liked Destinationgone.com have you ever tried that one?

I may have seen some of those sights but you have to narrow things down or you will be searching forever. I said I used vacationrental.com but I may have misspoke. We use vrbo.com vacationrentalbyowner.com I am not sure if they are the same or not. Yes, the website is little outdated looking but it's easy to navigate. I prefer to deal directly with the owner instead of an agency. You get better answers to your questions.

We usually know pretty much where we want to stay. We eliminate the ones that don't have an online calander because it's a waste of time to have to contact them on available dates.

Good luck!

I don't have accommodation information but we were in Bend this spring and I found this resource online.
It's called the Deschutes County Bike Guide. There are a number of cycling route maps you can download on this site.

The URL is
https://www.co.deschutes.or.us/go/obj...D97F/index.cfm

I cycled route 22 the "Ride Around Bend". It is around 19 miles and was a lot of fun.

I did a route in Sunriver as well but can't seem to remember which one.

It's a great area have fun.

Ride safe.

Here's a link to Craigslist - Bend vacation rentals page. This should give you some ideas. I agree that Sunriver area is a nice place to stay and ride, both for road and mountain biking.
