Seattle Here I Come!

I introduced myself several months back, ambitious about a move to the Puget Sound area. Well, I'll be in Seattle for about six weeks, starting this Sunday, September 9th. Anybody have any suggestions on bike rentals? I like road-style bikes over any other type, and am anxious to see how the cycling is up there. I'll also be heading for one of the public libraries to grab a bike map for King County. I'll also be checking out the bike shops all over the place, but seeing as I don't have a car, I hope the bus system is decent.

Anyone want to meet up in person?

Here is the bike map in online version.

I haven't used the bus system yet (moved here about 4 months ago), but I've heard its one of the best in the nation. I think you'll be ok.

I'd love to meet up if I wasn't having back problems and unable to bike at the moment.

We do have a good bus system here is a link to Metro for King County

I think that recycled cycles does rentals but Gregg's Also does some rentals

Our metro bus system blankets the entire Seattle metro area. It's impossible not to get to a specific place/area by bus.

Welcome to Seattle!!!

KingTermite, I read about your problems on several of the other forums. Hope ya recover soon! And if you're in Bellevue, we might run into each other, even off bikes. I have tons of relatives in Bellevue.

Too bad you won't have a bike for tomorrow--the Headwaters Century is the place to be!

Well, it would be if you wanted to meet me and a few other BF members .

The bus system can get you just about anywhere...where are you going to be staying for the six weeks?

I'm not there on Saturday, I'm there on Sunday. It's 9:35p.m. here and I have the MCAT to worry about tomorrow. I'll be catching some Z's after this post

I'm staying at my uncle's house in Renton. It's over on the East side of the 405. He's nice enough to let me stay for free while I go job hunting. I hope to get enough money to buy a sport road/cyclocross/touring bike for commuting and touring (exploring) in the future.

Headwaters Century is actually Sunday--I meant to write that if you had a bike by then, you'd be able to ride with us .

I live in Kent, so perhaps when you get here and are rested, send me a PM. I'm slow, but you would probably enjoy riding the Cedar River Trail just to get used to the hills.
