Joining a cycling club...pro's and cons...

I'm considering joining the Cascade Bicycle Club, and the $25.00 fee for a year's worth of membership seems more then fair.

I'd join to gain experience riding in groups, comraderie, and who knows...maybe meet the love of my life. I'd join because I'm completely addicted to everything cycling and from what I understand the Cascade Bicycle Club is a strong advocate in the Puget Sound region.

Why shouldn't I join?

Thanks!!!

Cascade

I haven't been a member for years, but have had an strong relationship for many years. The range of rides run the full gamut, but there are social rides that start out at `15-20+ mph. The last one I went on only had 4 riders including the leader and my business partner. The leader and the other rider vanished and ny business partner and I ended up never finding them.

Cascade is one of the largest bicycle clubs in the nation. They are active in events and bicycle politics. They are directly responsible for the planned new bikes lanes going in around Seattle. I would strongly encourage anyone serious about bicycling to join Cascade.

Another question...

I'm a 34yo male. Will I find others on the rides near my age? Not that it matters, I'm just curious.

You will find all ages. During the season, people are training for STP. And they are all ages. But check out Cascade events and attend one or 2. Also the rides are free. Choose a ride and meet the leader or better yet, you can call them prior to the ride and see who's joining in and anything else you might like to ask.

I joined Cascade Bicycle Club yesterday. I'm doing my first ride in a few weeks!

Thanks for the info.
