Portland to coast solo ride?

I'd like to do an unsupported ride from Hillsboro to the Coast. I know there are a few different routes, but I'm having some trouble with the logistics. I need a route suitable for a standard road bike (not set up for touring) but it appears like the most popular one via nestucca has 3 miles of gravel road. Can someone suggest an alternative?

The second issue is finding a ride back, but that's a seperate matter.

The reach the beach ride I believe does not go through gravel. Correct me if I'm mistaken people who have actually ridden it This map isn't going out of Hillsboro, but you could probably work out that route to connect to this one:
