Welcome to the great Northwest.

Too bad you don't have your bike yet -- there is an organized ride this weekend called the Kitsap Color Classic that runs right through Poulsbo (Sunday -- see www.cascade.org ). If you want to check out the local biking scene head to the park by the waterfront in Poulsbo Sunday morning; there will likely be a rest stop for the riders in the park Sunday morning.

Some nice riding around Poulsbo...nice ride up to Port Gamble, and if you want longer rides you can ride down to Bainbridge Island, or across the bridge and up toward Port Townsend.

Welcome. Poulsbo is in a great location for road rides and some okay MTBing, not much traffic on the secondary roads especially on the weekends.Hope some fenders are moving with your bike. Looks like its that time of year, after what to me was a wonderfully dry summer and fall so far.

Welcome.

Poulsbo is very nice. Big Valley Road, and also south out of town. The ride to Indianola and Chief Sealth's grave leads to some good backroads on the other side of the highway. unfortunately, the Silverdale side is pretty tedious, and Bangor chokes off good choices to ride N-S.

but great stuff over on the Olympic peninsula. the Hood Canal bridge improvements are to be done next year? or 2010 that will have a wide shoulder for the length of the bridge, now it is just the west half.

once the hood canal bridge is improved, that riding connection will make poulsbos' relatively constrained geography irrelevant.

Welcome to Poulsbo! Break out the bib and get ready for your first bite of Lutefisk. It's mandatory once you move here.
If you're a mountain biker, Port Gamble right down the road has a ton of trails through there foresty land.
I highly recommend Silverdale Cyclery for all of your cycling needs.
PM me if you need directions to anywhere or anything!

You will enjoy living in Poulsbo, we lived there in 1990 while building a home in Kingston. Be sure to visit Classic Cycles in Winslow (Bainbridge) to see some vintage bikes.

There are some neat things to check out (history wise) on/near the Suquamish Indian Reservation. You may want to hit that up but be careful, you don't want to spend all your wages at the Casino lol!

-Grant
P.S. O, they are: The museum, Old Man House and Chief Seattle's Grave.

Heck of a first weekend windstorm to welcome you to town, eh? Sorry I missed the KCC ride, but I'm sure I'll see you at some ride or another.
