I had a great ride in this morning. I was about 20 minutes or so slower than normal, but it was worth it.
I guess the weather report discouraged all the fair-weather riders, since I only saw two other bikes the entire trip. One was going the other way and the other passed me as I lumbered along just enjoying the morning. This means that the vast majority of the time I was riding in peaceful quiet. I started the ride in the dark, but by the time I got up to Lake Washington the dawn was shining and it only got brighter as I rode up. The temperature was nice, there was no rain, and there was no wind.
The best part of the ride came just after I crested the Kennydale Hill on Lake Washington Blvd. (headed North). I decided to take a little break and have some drink. While I was sitting there enjoying the morning, a small family of 3 deer came out of the woods and stood by the roadside about 50 feet in front of me. I just sat and enjoyed the sight for a while.
Yeah, I was slow this morning, but I think it was worth it.
