Wow what a great day for a ride today

Man it was so beautiful today the wife and I did a short run to Orting and back (13) miles and some change. Ran into Kpug and a companion with his little kid in a trailer. Kelly remember how you said my homemade panniers looked pretty robust? Well I lost the left on just before we go to Mcdonalds. The rivit, actually the leather split. Now I have another idea to use eyelets on the top like I did for the bungee attatchment and use bungee to hook to the top of the rack. Back to the design bench. Oh well they can be salvaged. What did you think about the tandem rack Brian had? What is it anyway? Looks like a lot of work. But hey thats what you do huh. Anyway good seeing you again and thanks for the nice comments about the wifes mixte. I'm riding the Bianchi to work tomorrow I gotta get some seat time on that thing to see if I want to keep it. I'm running some Specialized Armadillos on it and I know some folks don't like them so I might try a set of Panaracer Pasela TG on it and see if that helps.

Bummer about the pannier! I'm sure you'll get a design worked out...How 'bout reinforcing the area where the rivet is with some sturdy denim or the like?
Anyways, I'm really on the fence about that tandem frame. It's sooo cool but it would really require a lot of work. It's got to be from the 30's or so and there is a lot of stuff missing. Like Brain says it could be a good wall hanger conversation piece though...A bit pricey for a decoration though.

Today certainly was a great day for a ride but my dang knee's blew up in South Prairie. It was a painful but pleasant ride home...

Anyways, here is the derailleur I was talking about for your wifes mixte. It might be a bit wild but that's kind of the point right? It's an Ofmega Mistral....

High 50's yesterday here in central WA and I was able to get 36 miles in with a 5 mile climb in the middle and then low 60's today for another 24.5 miles. It's funny how you can forget all the griping and complaining about cruddy winter weather with days like this.

Had a humorous experience too. I passed a friend of mine who is just getting into riding and training for STP. He bought a really nice Discovery Channel Trek carbon bike from his boss for a ridiculous price, but is so new to cycling he doesn't know much about bikes themselves. He says to me - "As soon as I started going faster the back felt like it was wobbling a lot, what do you think it could be?" I checked the tire and said "uh, tires are kind of made for air." I pumped them up with my frame pump and he hops back on and yells, "Oh yeah." He made me feel like an expert.

    How about today?

All through the winter, riding to work when it was 15 degrees outside, or raining, or when the wind was 20MPH in my face, or when it was so foggy on the SRT I could hardly see 50 feet in front of me, I was thinking about days like today.

What a beautiful morning to commute into work on the bike! The ride hom tonite is going to be even better!

Will it work on a 5 speed freewheel?

Far too long since we've had days like the past 3. Took a long ride on Sunday through the Snoqualmie Valley and it was absolutely wonderful to be riding comfortably without rain gear or warm clothing!

Oh man 70 in Ballard when I got done with my ride yesterday. It was really nice to finally air out my skinny white legs. I spied quite a few pairs of pasty legs on the trail yesterday.

I stayed at Alki last night, Got up this morning to catch the bus into Seattle and decided to ride instead. Great morning for a ride, no wind, nor rain and almost no traffic (0530)

I'm so jealous of everyone who rode in yesterday's nice weather. :-( I ended up having to work on the yard - had to do that sooner or later. Now only if this weather will last through the end of summer!

Kelly is it all plastic or just plastic coated? I think I'm running a NOS Dura Ace from that era on there now.
