Dang my wife is good!!!

Sitting here at the computer, I looked up at Jen and asked "is tomorrow wednesday? It is isn't it? Remind me to...." before I could finish, she looked at me with a raised eyebrow and said...."start drinking water?"
Apparently my tales of woe from cramping up at the Lilac century touched her. On the other hand it may be that things that make you laugh your butt off have a way of sticking in your memory.

How do you folks prep for a ride as far as hydration and carbo-loading? (do people still do that?).
All set for the TdC folks?

Ahhh...the love of a good woman. You'd do well to hang on to her! My wife doesn't remind me of things like that, but at the same time doesn't hold my training against me.


I won't do much of anything special to prep for the Tour de Cure other than not riding on Friday. I'm doing the 70 mile loop, so as long as I continue to intake fluids and the occasional snack at the food stops, I'll be fine.

Hope to see you Saturday. I'll be riding with the Pacific Plumbing group, although the majority of the team is going to ride 45 miles.

Shorter rides I'm usually using just water. I've got two bottle cages on the Bianchi and the vintage bikes have one cage and then I've got a camelbak for them if I'm going on a longer ride. Once the temps go over 70 degrees I fill the water bottle with a powdered Gatorade mix. I know, there's better stuff available but with a large family - the Costco powdered Gatorade fits better in the budget.

I don't tend to carbo load, per se, but will make sure I eat something about 90 minutes before taking off on a ride and then carry granola bars and bananas with me.

I have a little cramping in the calves this spring but I think that's more related to my pedal stroke than anything else.

I don't do much in the way of food/hydration prep, since on a daily basis I drink about a gallon of water and eat anything that isn't fast enough to get out of my way.

I've been taking it easy on riding this week, since I'm doing the century on my fixie. Doing some extra stretching, and I made sure to load up on NUUN, Endurolytes and Cytomax to bring on the ride.

Looks like I will be heading for Redmond on friday. Should be there early afternoon. This is about the tenth time plans have been made, but I will be at marymoor by 6 or 6:30
