Photo Shoot: Looking for Cyclists

Hi All,

My name is Nick Hall, I am an outdoor adventure photographer based in Seattle (www.nickhallphotography.com) and I am currently expanding my cycling portfolio. I'm looking for about 2-3 cyclists to team up with over a weekend this autumn and thought that this forum might be a great place to begin a search for good people to work with.

If you are interested I am looking for two guys and one woman. You would have to be very experienced, very athletic high speed cyclists and somewhere between 28-40 years of age. Your own high-spec equipment (no older than two years) is a must. I'm looking to spend two days over a weekend (or weekday if you have it free) in the Cascades. We would be shooting very early in the mornings and into dusk.

If you are interested please check out some of my other work on my website (www.nickhallphotography.com). I'm looking to create dramatic and intense imagery, rather than sunshine happy outdoor images. So ideally you won't mine riding in moody weather (possibly light rain).

Any questions feel free to email me (nick@nickhallphotography.com) or to chat 206.617.3777

I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Warmest regards,

Nick

That's a nice portfolio, Nick.

Too bad you're not looking for someone who is not-so-athletic, old, 10 pounds too heavy, pretty slow, with a garage full of bikes that need some work. I'd be just your guy.

Maybe he could do a group shot - old fat guys on beater bikes commuting in the rain along some miserable 4-lane suburban thoroughfare (no bike lanes, traffic backed up behind us). Could be an awesome shot if he did it right at dawn - blinkies glaring, light reflecting off the wet pavement

That photo would do a lot more for Nick's career than more babes in kayaks.

My 'bent and I are there! I've got all the 'bent requirements -- fat, old, and facial hair! I've even got a purple Down Low Glow, if you want to shoot at night!

Doh, my newest bike is about 13 years old. Would be cool to get photgraphed, but I probably look fredly on bike. For now, I just lay the camera on the trail and set the timer....

not to rain on your parade, but, umm, are you offering $ to these photo models who are spending a very long day being bored and freezing in that aforementioned mountainous light rain while providing their own high-end gear? if it's really just portfolio work and all you can offer is the chance to get some cool, professional-quality photos of oneself to hang on the wall, you should say so up front.

I'll do the big, old, slow cyclist photos for a Pepsi and some doughnuts. (I gotta keep my figure, ya know.)

No, it's at Bonneville Power Administration's Ross Complex, here in Vancouver, WA. The wires are only a few feet off the ground, just a short section of wires, three towers long. I always supposed they were used to train linemen.

Just off the Ellen Davis Trail, A little tease of singletrack in town.
