Fremont Hit & Run, Thursday Nov. 12th

A car deliberately swerved into the path of a cyclist, hitting him/her and knocking him/her into a ditch. After the car hit the cyclist, its driver flipped off the cyclist and kept driving. Another day in the nasty city, right? Yes, but maybe not all is lost, because the driver of a car directly behind the guy who did it saw the whole thing in living color. He followed the driver who did it, got the car's license number and a description of the car, and called it into 911. The dispatcher sent the Fire Department to see if the cyclist was o.k., and patched the guy who reported the incident through to the police.

So ... all that's needed now is for the cyclist and any witnesses to step forward. If you were the one hit, or you saw it, please post here and/or send me a PM and maybe the car driver can be prosecuted. Without a complainant, there is no case. I'm leaving a few things out here because I don't want to encourage a false report or vigilante actions. I'm not the driver of the car who reported it. He works for me. He is not a cyclist, and neither am I. He's a car driver who saw a crime and reported it, and I'm trying to follow up. We are both interested in seeing this crime prosecuted.

Thanks to both of you for making the effort to bring this to justice! I hope the rider can be found.

I ride Fremont twice a day and have been assaulted in a similar manner. I want to echo Shifty's "Thanks."
