Portland area - Banks Vernonia Trail - did it reach Banks yet?

Banks Vernonia Trail - did it reach Banks yet?

@@@

This summer past there was a blip in the Vernonia Voice that the state, despite being broke, had the funding to extend the Banks Vernonia Trail down to Banks and do a trail head there. Love to see that. The BV is a fine trail.

Has anything happened with the project? When I return from winter in Newport Beach, what will I find?

(And,yes, having wintered in the Wet for years, I find it's better to winter down here - even if the Californians can't drive rain. They really can't. Like a Seattleite in snow, but at 80 mph.)

At least there is something on the web about the project.

I found this.

Despite or because of the recession, trail work is happening. Spokane latched onto stimulus money to do a new trail head at the N end of the Fish Lake Trail and pave some miles of it. That is going to be a very nice ride. Ten miles - and about 22 more if you then hop onto the Columbia Plateau Trail at Cheney and head down to Martin Rd. TH out of Sprague.

Wonder how Snohomish County is coming with their extension of the Centennial Trail.
They let a 4.x mill contract in October. Going to take the trail up to the Skagit County line, where it will end in a new trail head.

I would have built the Whitehorse Trail to Darrington or as far as the $$ went. They own the rail bed and there are people in Darrington.
