Visiting Portland, Oct. 15 & 16, 2011

Title says it. Sunday the 16th, I'll be at the University of Portland for a soccer match. However, I'll get into town Saturday afternoon. Want to check out a couple of bike shops, get some doughnuts from Voodoo, and spend part of Saturday evening visiting with friends at the Rose and Thistle Public House on NE Broadway. I'll be staying closer to the Broadway Bridge, and parking the car until I leave on Monday morning. Sunday, I'll hope to get up to PIR to watch some of the Cross Crusade before the soccer match. And maybe grab a beer at Saraveza after the game.

So, should I pack the Schwinn Suburban or the LHT for my two-wheel transportation? Either can carry a box of bacon-maple bars, or take-out containers. Also, if any Portland area peeps, want to meet up, on Saturday evening, let me know.

We have a Voodoo shop in downtown Eugene if you can't wait until you get to Portland. It's at the corner of Broadway and Willamette (next to the plaza area)

Hmmmm. Going by Eugene on Saturday and Monday. Days that 'Arriving by Bike' are open as well. Methinks, Eugene businesses may get a bit of my meager savings.

Well shoot. Today, the mother lets me know that I had the wrong date down on the calendar for her doctor appointment. Instead of Tuesday, her appointment in on Monday morning. Guess I can go up on Friday, ride around town on Saturday, then on Sunday, go to the game, and drive home (4 1/2 hours) afterward. Should get home by 9pm, Sunday night.

OR, I could go up on Saturday, with no bike, and rely on the car to get around Saturday evening. Only plus to this would be the savings in food and lodging expenses.

Okay, the plan is to drive up Saturday, staying closer to the airport and PIR, have dinner at the Rose and Thistle. On Sunday, catch the Cross Crusade in the morning, the soccer game in the afternoon, then drive home in the evening.
