NW century in September or October?

Anyone know of any century rides that are scheduled for September or October? I am just starting my training and will not be ready for anything like that before then, unfortunately. I'd like to have something to set my sights on as I begin my training on my new bike.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest you pick out two points that are 100 miles or less apart, and find an enjoyable route between them. That will save you $50+ for the event, and the frustration of dealing with an organized ride.

The Yaquina Lighthouse Century on August 17 is one of my favorites. Without knowing anything about your personal fitness, I'd think that you could be ready by then. The Portland Century is the week after that. If you really want something later, check out the Harvest Century on September 29.

The Alpine Century is also in August, near Monroe, Oregon. It's a great course, one of my all time favorites. Similar to the Willamette Gran Fondo that was just held, but better IMO by not being an out and back, and has a lower entry fee and supports a rural nonprofit.

Cascade Bike Club has the High Pass Challenge in Sept. Never done it, have heard it's a nice course. Cascade also has the Kitsap Color ride around the first weekend of Oct. The longest option was 70 something IIRC. I thought it was scenic and mostly enjoyable the one time I did it. Roads were higher traffic than I prefer though. Salem Bike Club usually has the Peach of a Century near the end of September.

Have you had bad experiences? I honestly love organized rides. I am doing as many as possible this year. Super fun to be out riding with so many other cyclists!
