Worst Day Of The Year Ride Feb 9
I noticed there is a ride on Feb 9, the "Worst Day Of The Year Ride". Is this a fun event, well-organized, route well marked, etc? I was thinking of doing the "challenge course".

I haven't done it, but i think it is supposed to be pretty decent. Looks like it'll be similar to the Tour De Lab (which I've done a few times). I will probably sign up for this if it fits in my schedule!

I've done it a few times. It's fun, well-organized, and well marked. The "challenge" course is challenging only if you haven't ridden at all since summer. The climbs are tough, but you just have to grind 'em out. The descents are fun, though.
A couple years ago, the WDYR coincided with Valentine's Day. I saw several people in costume (including Cupid!) on the long course.
My only objection to the ride is that it never lives up to its billing. The last several years it's been dry, clear, and relatively warm. A ride called "Worst Day of the Year" should have snow, hail, meteors, and locusts, dammit.

I think I'll do it. I've been riding, kinda, this winter so far. So I'm not too unfit. As for the weather, at this rate there will be palm trees and desert in Portland by February. What the heck is happening to winter? Jeff, you riding it?

I'm going to try to make it. I generally ride from home in Vancouver across the I-205 bridge, ride the short loop, then ride back across the I-5 bridge. I'm short on miles, too- I've been remodeling the kitchen.

Trust me, it always has been the "Worst Day of the Year", because I have yet to be able to get to Portland, and ride it.
