Seattle Bike Route

Hello, everyone. I just started commuting by bike, and the routes i've taken are honestly terrible (unnecessary distance, no bike lanes, etc.). Can anyone who bikes in seattle recommend a good route from the ferry terminal to the University of Washington?

Which way have you been going? Knowing this will help to determine your preferences and dislikes.

I commute daily from Ravenna, just North of the University to downtown near the Library, so my route overlaps much of what you're asking about. Here's how I'd do it:

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3889288

This uses:
3rd Ave through downtown - The best way through downtown during rush hour since it's just you and the buses. The buses are mostly in the curb lane so the other lane is yours.

Dexter from downtown to Fremont - Bike lane the entire way.

Burke-Gilman trail from Fremont to the U - In my opinion the most dangerous part of this route, but still not bad.
