Morning rides in Portland

Hey everyone.

I just moved to Portland today! Built up a couple of my bikes and really looking forward to some morning rides before work. Would love to connect with some people for a 1 - 2 hour ride before work.

I am in the Hawthorne District (I think???).

Any leads would be much appreciated. I think tomorrow I am going to take it easy and check out Mt Tabor.

Cheers!

You're just in time for Pedalpalooza! Ride calendar below. Definitely try to make a couple of the rides.

S H I F T to bikes!

The local club that leads the most rides is Portland Wheelmen.

Calendar | Portland Wheelmen Touring Club

Mt Tabor is my usual weekend morning ride. Wake up early, do 7-10 laps of hill repeats, then coffee and breakfast. Sound Grounds (Belmont and 37th) has always let me wheel my bike in and park it against the wall on the SW corner of the place while I eat. The SW entrance (64th St) leads to the steepest climb. The W entrance (Salmon St) is more mellow.

Be sure to visit Velocult (1969 W 42nd St, just north of Sandy) for bikes, beer, and coffee. In July they show the TdF on the big screen.

Best local blog for biking news is BikePortland.org.
