Who's riding the 410, south from Enumclaw?
This past week-end I played Forest Ranger at the Silver Creek Ranger Station, less than a mile from the Crystal Mt turn-off.
Talked to a couple of guys training for RAMROD.
One guy going to Paradise to meet family.
Two guys who started early and were returning from Sunrise.
One guy called it his triple pass day - Crystal Mt Rd/Sunrise Visitors Center/Chinook Pass.
And I saw quite a few ride by that didn't stop.
Any of you guys come thru on Friday thru Monday?
The real Ranger gave severaL guys (everyone who asked) permission to use our small parking area for the day. Probably more secure than an unattended parking area. Don't use my name but for those who like to skip the ride from Enumclaw and make more time for the area's climbs, it is a convenient start/stop.
Watch out for the new chip seal if you come soon.

I plan on passing that way in a couple of weeks on an 8 day loaded tour. What is the condition of that chipseal on that stretch of 410? Any chance of stealth camping around there?

They have mostly finished with the roadwork. You will be OK in that regard.
If you are in the National Forest, it's called 'dispersed camping', no stealth needed. Find a spot and camp.
If you are in the National Park, you are supposed to be in a campground.
