My brother is going as part of the Candlelighters for Children group. The group raises money for kids with cancer and their families. I wish I could go, but I have to work. It looks like a good route. I've ridden some rides in the area, but not on much of the route they're taking this year. It's a beautiful area.
I'm looking forward to hearing about it.

Due to a wild fire in Halfway, Cycle Oregon could not go to Halfway or Joseph as planned. We had to ride back to Baker City the way we came, then on to La Grande. The ride to La Grande turned out to be the nicest ride day of the week, a totally delightful 77 miles in the foothills of the Wallowa mountains. Here is an article from BikePortland about that day....enjoy. A Grande old time: Cycle Oregon 2015 Day 6 - BikePortland.org
It was a fun week, great people, fun towns to visit and fantastic riding in Eastern Oregon and Idaho.

I hope the air wasn't too foul for those of you who were enjoying the ride. I hate riding in soot, which is part of the reason I ride out of our air basin so often.

The air was very clean. One morning I woke up with sinus issues and realized I'd been breathing smoke as I slept. Someone was looking after us. Turned out we also missed snow by not going to Joseph and Wallawa Lake. And that ride to La Grande? Between the descent and the huge tailwind, we flew for 20 miles!
And a huge thanks to the Cycle Oregon management and crew for being able to turn a ride of 2000 riders and 800 volunteers around and make it work!
