Gaviria alone is worth watching this Giro. That was an explosion of speed yesterday he was not even on the screen, I thought he was beat. He is also intriguing that he climbs. Would love to see him matched up against Sagan in a Gran Tour.

Let the climbs resume Giro Style. Dumoulin has his work cut out today

at this point, dumou is up nearly 3 minutes on his closest gc challenger. the final stage-21-is a time trial which,
if he doesn't win outright, should find him at least 30 seconds up on the current top ten except jungels.
dumou can afford to lose 20-25 seconds a stage with 5 solid mountain stages in a row after the last rest day.
what he can't afford is a crash or to blow up completely on any one climb.

Dumoulin is riding so well right now. Blockhaus was quite obviously not a fluke. He looks like one of the biggest GC contenders in the world as of now. Riding Nario off his wheel on a big climb was pretty impressive finishing Zakarin off with more in the tank was spectacular. Its the Giro and anything can happen. The Cima Coppi which entertains Stevilo boths side and Mortirolo in one day looks to be the big test looming. Landa when you look at what his leg looked like after that crash has been very very impressive

when it comes to tactical acumen or sheer what the hell, i'll go with contador or nibali. both have proven that they will animate the race. sometimes it pays off-in spades. other times, it eliminates them. expecting nibbles to light a few matches in the next few days. dumou is this year's menchov except he's better than menchov ever was. i don't feel quintana is destined to be a multiple gt winner. he'll always be in contention but i question his ability to read a race. great climber but as great climbers like purito and pantani have proven, everything's gotta break just right to stand on the top of the podium.

The next five stages are pretty challenging. Can Dumoulin hang on to the pink or limit his damage enough for the time trial. A spectacular ride so far and comes into the final week with pink and blue. Not a bad couple of weeks of racing for a time trial specialist. We have seen that he has the spirit to fight. His biggest battles will be in the next few days. He will be attacked. The Shark sits in 4th place its the third week and its the Giro. Does he have enough to gamble in the coming week or is nearly four minutes too much to ask. As you point out above when the chips are down Nibbles is tough to outclass. He always seems to improve at the closing of Gran Tours. Quintana had a spectacular ride the last time on Stelvio and a solid strategy that year. Certainly we are in his terrain this coming week will he dominate as he did on Blockhaus or just hang on as he did on Oropa. I love Nario but wonder at times with his ability to string together attacks on multiple days. He seems to be able to push it one a day or two and then cover. This will be a big test for him. Pinot is riding well and cannot be overlooked at this point. Can he take the next step as a rider. He has certainly put himself in position to. He is hard to figure out but he has consistently shown he has the talent to be one of the best.

The Giro is always unpredictable and the race organizers have set the table once again in spectacular fashion. Another rider could certainly make room for himself on the podium. It will be a furious few days to come.

yeah...but it means he was able get out of his kit, take a dump and get back on the bike in about 2 minutes. I'm guessing the soigneur might just toss those bibs out.

It just occurred to me...did the challengers make any attempt to slow down for Tommy after he showed that courtesy to Quintana after his crash the other day?

seemed like the teams with any true gc hopeful took their feet off the gas but the teams out of that picture (only hunting stage wins, kom points, camera exposure for the sponsors...) kept up the pace which the gc teams then surreptitiously followed so as to stay in but not drive the pace. really bleepy timing for dumou but it's better than losing 2 minutes because he wiped out on a hairpin.

nibbles starting to come alive but he may pay dearly for that effort tomorrow. nibbles may just cover/consolidate his position tomorrow and recoup unless a situation to drop a 30 second deficit on dumou or quintana presents itself. liked the aggressiveness of zakarin and expect him to continue to attack.

Great day of racing I am thoroughly impressed with Landa whose Giro looked over just a week ago and yet another great performance.

tj saves his (and the team's) giro with the win. unlucky for landa. serious consolidation in gc spots 2-7 behind dumou.

I was watching the RAI feed online in Italian (couldn't find English version) and was disappointed in the interview when the question was asked of Tejay in Italian and he responded in English. I was skeptical that he'd beat Landa to the line but was happy to see him pull it off.

slcbob must be pleased. inching closer to the maglia rosa whilst his boy-dumou-finally displays his post-dump anger/smack at both nibbles and quintana. hoo boy! next two stages are gonna be fun.

prediction: gonna go
out on a limb here...nibbles does just enough to take the pink jersey from dumou by 40-60 seconds, then barely holds him off in the last stage tt, winning the overall by 10 seconds or less.

^ perhaps. My boy is doing better than I anticipated, as evidenced by my picking Movistar unclass riders for their assist points. Finally, a mostly pleasant surprise!

My prediction....gonna be a nail biter. And on that flat course final TT after these hills, Dumoulin takes more than 50 sec out of the Shark. So either ooga-booga's numbers are off, or his prediction is. We shall see!

I think it's also going to be tight in our BF league. I'll get a nice kiss from Dumo's final GC points so look out, but ooga-booga could make up a lot if Nibali gets in front of Quintana, Mr Bojangles pips Kruijswick, and various minions do some crazy things.

Plenty of room for a change on the podium 2 minutes separates 1-6 crazy close I think its Dumo this year watching the last climb now let the attacks begin!

nibbles got one minute plus on dumou today. he needs the same tomorrow. quintana's gotta go hard tomorrow
to save a final podium space since the 4 riders behind him are all better tt'ers than he. pinot and zakarin charging hard.
bad day for dumou. the lack of a solid team and the efforts of reeling back all the attacks since the dolomites started
gotta find him toasted. between pozzavivo, zakarin, quintana, dumou, nibbles and pinot tomorrow, there's gonna be
a battle royale on the final climb.
