Where do the toys go?

What happens to all the equipment the teams use at the end of the season? Do they use the bikes more than one season?

Some of them go back to the bike factories where they were made. When I was in Italy, I saw a few older bikes from other tours hanging from racks at the DeRosa factory. I asked him where they came from, and he said from the team they made bikes for. I almost bought one, but I wanted my own new bike, so I decided against it.

Others are probably melted down, as previously speculated.

Some riders keep theirs, some are donated to charity auctions, some are sold by the riders on eBay.

It all gets sold from the team's Service Course HQ at the end of the season. Usually in France, Belgium, Holland...somewhere central.

Rider's sometimes buy a bike if they are leaving the team.
