Will CSC even defend the yellow

Will CSC even defend the yellow on tuesday???

At this stage of the race I think the yellow is about as attractive to CSC as it was to Disco.

Bet they don't they'll just lay back and see it Disco is up to the task of controlling the peleton.

It's kind of a shame that Rasmussen didn't win the yellow as Rabo would probably have put up a fight to keep it on his back for as long as they could.

I think the question is more of CAN they defend the yellow rather than will they. My answer would be no! The real race starts tomorrow, and Discovery will be in the thick of the action. I expect to see Lance wearing yellow tomorrow.

Nope... Voight will be left to defend it for himself which I doubt if he could against a team of Disco or Tmobiles caliber.....

Not sure the answer here...

I don't see Disco worrying about Voigt, so they are not going to attack. I am not sure how worried T-Mobile are about Voigt either, maybe Rabobank(How many stages can Rasmussen push himself to the limit)?

I am sure that Disco would love for the standings to stay this way for a week or two..Lance up comfortably on Ullrich, Vino and Basso with high mountains and a TT near the end.

Bjarne says no, according to this Reuters story:

Riis said his team is not going to make the pace for the American.

"Armstrong is the one who is here to win the Tour and ... he has to take responsibilities in the race. The pressure is on his shoulders not on ours.

"He gave the jersey away yesterday (Sunday) but we are not going to do his job."
Obviously Basso will try to get the jersey, but it sounds like CSC isn't going to do the work at the front to make things easier on the Discos.

They'll share responsibility in the early "flat" parts of the stage with Discovery. Part of it will be honoring the jersey, plus they'll want to see how Voigt can do for one day in the Alps and see if they can hold onto the jersey for one more day. But, Discovery will have to play a role in this too. Once it hits the Cormet-de-Roselend then Disco will have to go to the front and try to ride like they did last year to hold off any attacks. CSC will not ride tempo in the mountains yet unless they have completely given up on Basso, which is highly unlikely.

They won't have to. Voigt will be nowhere near the front group.

I think CSC will defend their standings in the GC... the winner of tommorow's stage doesn't say much... unless the time difference is huge...
IF CSC CAN hold their 4 guys in contention - within ~ 1 -2 min of Maillot...
Mmmmm we have a race...

The discussion is over. Riis said they won't, and I'm very happy to hear it.

Finally, people figure out how to beat Lance: all of the big teams and the big riders need to put tremendous pressure on him and his teammates. They all need to attack like crazy. I can't believe it took them six years to do it... hopefully, it will be enough.

Can Basso put 1:26 into LA in the mountains? While his TT has improved, I think he's going to need a couple wins atop the mountains. If he or Vino can somehow manage a minute or more advantage before stage 20, that ITT is going to be one hell of a show.
