Confessions of a LA fan...

I am certainly not a BIG fan but I admire the guy for his courage and abilities... Despite being branded a 'Lance Hater' for my stated postion on the tour(ie Lance be challenged if not beaten), I would have loved for him to take P1 on a mtn top finish in his last tour... He has been able to answer every attack, seemingly without tapping into the reserves.... Would only be fitting... Well the ITT is his to lose...

I admire his accomplishments, I'm just sick of him winning. I want to see an exciting race for the yellow jersey, not precision tactics. I want to see attacks.. and more attacks.. and more attacks after the two previous counter-attacks, where the attacker is finally attacked one last time by his previous attacker to win the stage in all of his attacking glory.

I have to say that I feel somewhat similar... I want somebody to go against the norm and pound it out...be unconventional... If only the field was filled with Vinos...

So everyone would attack to be subsequently blown out the back?

Am I the only person who hates vino? His attack--get dropped, attack---get dropped, lose 6 minutes, attack---win a stage because nobody see you as a threat anymore, attack--get dropped, recover, catch back on, attack obviously against team orders--get dropped.

UGH...

I pray disco does not sign him next season.

That only happened in this Tour.

Watch the 2003 Tour.

His tactics have made him one of the more successful riders in the peloton, and he makes the races exciting. I don't see how you can hate on him.

Well he also said he paid for his attacks on Luz Ardiden... that he didn't make the smartest tactical moves.
Funny he said he was more tactically savvy now, and look how he rode this Tour.

I don't like riders like that. It just seems so stupid... no tactical sense. I'd rather see riders win by making smart choices.

We owe 50+% of the excitement in the race to Vino.. He was the one who took it to Lance initially... He rides with emotion, isnt scared, doesnt give a s*it if its Lance or some no name, doesnt care about support.. He just wants to do it.. Agreed his tactics didnt quite work this year but what about 2003?... You have to admire a guy who rides his heart out like Vino or Voeckler.. With Vino there is no question of leaving something behind..And as we speak he is on an attack...

I hope he doesnt go to Disco... I doubt if he will get to play a GC contendor with them touting Popovych and Savoldelli.. George and maybe even Tom Danielson get to play the uber domestique... That would leave Vino in a tought spot...

Well after this years tour I don't think many teams will be wanting to sign Vino unless it is as their GC man. Unless TMobile comes out with a ringing endorsement that he was following team orders all along he won't be seen as a team player. Not a trait endearing to JB or team Discovery.

Gotta give it to LA ... the strongest rider is at the top of the GC. Quite an accomplishment after so many years on top.

Yeah, I think we all miss 2003. It was great seeing LA up against everyone and responding to adversity after adversity. My guess is that ranks up there as one of the most exciting tours in history.

Next year should be real interesting. If you think about it, with LA out of the picture, everyone will readjust their strategy. Most will mark Basso but because of his relatively weaker TT skills, others (maybe Jan still) will be more agressive because the equation of maximum effort for maximum results will work better than with LA around.
