Best Tour Ever?
Which year was the best TdF and why?
|
2003.
100'th aniversary. Tons of drama and crashes. the only one lance won on guile instead of raw power, and it put him in the 5 time club. |
I agree with 2003. Lance's first victory was also decent as he came really out of nowhere.

I agree with 2003. Lance's first victory was also decent as he came really out of nowhere. But Lemonds last day TT victory that led to his TDF win was probably the most climatic.

1989. The yellow jersery changed hands almost everyday. Then the final stage TT was gut wrenching. Lemond was 66 seconds faster then Figion over a 18 miles course, but Figion was only 50 seconds behind at the start. Also a lesson in aerodynamics.

'69 or '89.

An impossible question, since most of the prewar Tours weren't/aren't on film. Best Recent or Modern Tour might be the ideal question...

Na, he only won one jersey.

1999. Most incredible comeback story of all time. The turns of speed he had back then were devastating. Just another gear that no one could match.
2003. Close second for reasons already stated. |

I can see how you would enjoy that Tour the most, but in general... how could you call that the best ever Tour? |
|
'89!
this year will be HISTORIC but not particularly great. as you look back on it, it will seem like lance had the whole thing wrapped up after the second checkpoint of the first stage. |
