Non-carbon frames?

Were any teams using titanium or other frame tube materials this year in the TDF?

Smoothie104 08-10-05 08:47 AM

Fassa Bortolo used Magnesium framed Dogmas, with carbon stays and forks...

DieselDan 08-10-05 09:14 AM

Weren't CSC's Cervelos aluminum? How about AG2R's Decathlons?

hmai18 08-10-05 10:29 AM

CSC switched to the carbon Soloists this year.

gmason 08-10-05 11:25 AM

There were also some Al Bianchis on the Liquigas-Bianchi squad.

hi565 08-11-05 09:07 AM

Some members still used the ally frames in the climbs.

If Cipo had still been racing the E5, he'd have entered and won Le Tour. No doubt.

I think not... He'd just have to put on a toga and have his teammates pull him in a chariot, all the way to the line.

Anyone besides me remember that?

The toga was good, but the "skinless man" skinsuit was better. :D

Damiano Cunego of Lampre used a Cannondale CAAD 8 SI frame in the Giro, that's about as not carbon as it gets in the Grand Tours.

merlinextraligh 12-04-05 07:56 PM

Backstead has ridden Ti bikes because of the difficulty of getting a CF frame built to his size.

christo87 12-20-05 02:30 PM

Euskatel did ride an Al-C combo during the flat stages, the Orca in the mountains
